Spirnalactone and hair

I know a lot of ladies have been posting a lot about how to get rid of the extra unwanted hair lately. I have been on the spirnalactone for a few years now. I have noticed how the hair on my legs aren't that bad, but never really paid attention anywhere else. Well, I have now just realized that the hair on my stomach isn't as bad as it used to be, it is more like peach fuzz. I think it has possibly been months since the last time I have had to shave the stomach. Just wanted to give some other gals some hope. You won't notice a difference right away with the spirnalactone, but it does work. It always helps keep the water weight down a little bit too because it is a diuretic. I have never been so happy ever. Now if only the facial hair went away more lol.

I have no clue. Don't have a health food store close to me so I never go.
  • Spironalactone is a prescription only drug, so its not possible to buy over the counter. I would suggest seeing your doctor, as diuretics are dangerous drugs if not prescribed and understood. Good luck
  • if i'm not mistaken, it's primary use is as a blood pressure medication.

Spirnalactone's primary use is for hair growth
  • Spironalactone's primary use is as a diuretic and as part of blood pressure management. The impact on hair growth is a side effect, and has been found to be very useful for us girls with PCOS....but the dose has to be carefully monitored. In some cases, the drug has been related to increasing hair growth, particularly bushy eyebrows....but I've only witnessed this in children with cardiac problems, as this is my area of health care practice. I take Metformin, which has also made a difference to hair growth, and helps to control and sort out insulin-resistance.

Oh I was never told it was for blood pressure management. Most not do a lot for it because I am on 2 other meds for high blood pressure. Was always just told it was for the hair growth and was a mild diuretic.
