Does weather affect you?

Does weather affect the way you deal with life in general or the way that MS deals with you?
I've just noticed that the days are getting shorter - it's dark when I go to work and it's getting pretty close to dark when I go home. The leaves have all changed and are starting to fall (last night major storm - many trees without any leaves at all), and I'm back to wearing summer clothes but dragging along a sweater and a fall coat just in case. There is snow in the forecast for this afternoon.
I seem to be in a slump - can't seem to get motivated to track my food either on line or in general. If there is food there I eat it - if there is none there I don't eat. I don't seem to be able to summon the interest to even think about total calories for the day. I don't think I'm over calories necessarily just not as balanced as I should be - and I know I've been putting on some miles simply because my feet hurt at the end of the day. I'm not up in weight - but I'm not down either.
Is it just the fall blues? I know my legs are tingling and my vision is blurring more often. My short term memory is gone right out the window but I also have the added ?bonus? of being peri-menopausal so that could be related to that.:ohwell:
Any pearls of wisdom to jump start the whole process again?

Hi Bea,
Yes the weather does affect my MS, but only the heat. Once my body gets overheated all my MS symptoms flare up especially the tingling, weak legs and vision. I also get fatigued more easily so it makes it harder to exercise, which also gets my body temp up. UGH vicious circle!
I am also dealing with being peri-menopausal. I haven't had any hot flashes yet, but I get serious night sweats.
I wish I could have some words of wisdom other than just hang in there and keep trying your best. I set mini goals for myself that way I am not feeling overwhwelmed, just one goal at a time, one day at a time.
Best of luck to you.0 -
See, an mine's just opposite.. The warm weather..ooohh please come back.. It's so damn cold here now and only going to get colder until May.. The wind blows, or the rain falls or the sun jus looks the other way and I'm in a spiral of shivers and hot flashes.. an it just looks so damn dreary outside that it doesn't help the emotional or mental sides. I get stiffer in the cold, ache more. But so be it- here's to next July when it'll be warm again.. LOL0

I know exactly what you mean about the cold. I'm near Calgary and this morning you could see your breath until 11 am. Going to dig out the mitts and the warm jacket tonight.0

Yes, the weather definitely affects my MS. Mostly the heat although extreme cold is not so great either. I long for a nice temperate climate. The heat makes my legs weak, and my vision blur. I am starting to notice a definite trend--it I get too hot, too tired or too stressed--then the cement feeling in my legs gets worse. Now, if I could only control those 3 things in my life!!
It's interesting because I was born and raised in the desert, lived here all my life--and now I can't tolerate the heat. It's esp. hard because I can't be out as much with our horses, esp. in the summer..go figure...:sad:0
