I just started Strong lift on Friday. I'm a weakling- I can only do the Olympic bar alone right now. :embarassed:

I was wondering... once I get the hang of this, is it suggested to up 5lbs a week or 5lbs every workout?

Thank you! :drinker:

That's okay -- I started with just the bar, too! You'll be so surprised to see what you can do in a month, trust me. :)

To answer your question, it's 5lbs per workout (and 10lbs for deadlifts). So, since you squat every workout, you'll add 5lbs every time. And the other exercises, even though you do them every other time, you still add 5lbs. Deadlifts you add 10lbs per workout.

If you fail to complete 5X5 you'll start at that weight next time. If you fail at a weight 3x in a row, you deload by 10%.

Check out the stickies -- Tameko put up a really nice summary of all of this.

    Hope this helps. :)

if 5 lbs just seems crazy high to you, grab some fractionals and start smaller. Do 2.5lbs, or even 1 lb per day. ANYTHING is fine as long as you are making progress.

^ This is what I do on many of them - but increase more on ones that I can -
