Well, I COS in two weeks, and frankly... I'm terrified. I don't know if I can handle the States, getting a real job, finding a place to live, and trying to explain to everyone what "Africa" is like.

Any tips from the RPCVs? How do you get back into American life?

One of the hardest things you'll do. You're going to see how huge everything is at home and how much we waste. Come up with abbreviated stories to tell people...and when they ask "How was it?" All people want to hear is a short answer. Don't take offense to it, it's just the way it is. Join your local RPCV group so you have a group of people to talk about the transition with. And don't get too caught up in American food...it's really not all that good.

Yeah... gonna do my best to not gain 10 pounds in the first two weeks home. But come on! I can eat something other than rice and beans for a change!

Thanks for the advice, I will start composing my really short stories now. I know people won't want to hear me rambling on forever, even though I could!
