Texting gives me anxiety

I hate not knowing if I am bugging someone with a text .. lol.
So the marine guy and I went on a date. It was fun. Had some smooches .. he is like one of those kissers that is very intense. Which was kinda hot .. but kinda not at the same time.
A little back story .. we have known each other for like three years now. I have always thought he was hot .. he is very different looking than people I normally find attractive .. but hot all the same. We have always had a very fun relationship. He teases me about the Steelers .. I tease him about the Marines. He has always been very vocal about the fact that he thinks I am beautiful .. but he tells me when I am having a bad hair day as well. After my divorce he friended me on facebook. I didn't think anything of it .. fast forward to when I was dating the young boy and we broke up he asked me out, because he didn't want to be the first person to date me after my divorce, but has wanted to ask me out since he met me. I wasn't over young boy yet .. so I wasn't really into the date, but I went just because. Young boy and I got back together I stopped talking to him "that way" .. yet we still texted etc. Young boy and I broke up again and now he has asked me out again. whew.
He is a total guy. Definitely not a sweet talker or anything like that. I text him and I get like one or two word answers. But then if I don't text him .. he will text me and say what .. no love for me today .. that kind of thing. It gives me butterflies waiting for his texts but then I get frustrated when he doesn't. lol He doesn't share a lot either .. like I found out last night that he is in Buffalo for work and then the Marine Corps Ball .. like .. he didn't even mention it until I asked what he was doing. He was like .. Oh .. I'm in buffalo for the weekend. Weird. I am not a huge texter .. a couple during the day is plenty.. but the only thing I have to compare it to is young boy .. who texted me when he went to the bathroom, so I got like 300 a day from him. Gah. If I was going to a ball he would know it.
I don't like feeling like this! grrrrrrrrrrr. It ticks me off .. but on the other hand it puts me in that "must get this boy" mode.

I am glad you think it is frustrating too .. I hate not knowing if what I am feeling is unreasonable.

Haha, the Air Force has an annual ball but no one ever goes. It's not as big of a deal as the USMC Ball. I am going with Steve to his in a couple of weeks. I'm gonna get all dressed up and fancy.0

I think you already know this, but don't compare this guy's texting habits to a "young one" for obvious reasons. A "young one" taught me all about text oversharing a few years ago. Yuck.
I dated someone in the vein of your marine. He'd text me a short sentence and then ask me what was wrong or assume something was wrong when I didn't reply with a novel. I ended up feeling a lot of frustration and resentment about the way we communicated, and decided to start using the" talk phone" more often if I were serious about someone.
It sounds like he likes you enough that you could be comfortable letting him know what your communication needs are?0 -

My take on texting is this: I'd probably rarely text if I wasn't bored. However at work their is a whole lot of waiting around and I fire off tons a day! I've gotten to really know some people through texting and boredom and that is a pro I guess.
As far as comparing the amount of texts he sends to young boy (terrible nickname to give any guy) is crazy, like mentioned above.
As for this situation: you have rejected this guy twice for another... I think if I were him I'd be walking on egg shells around you, and think you should probably step up pursuit of a relationship, so he can clearly understand that you would like to explore that side of your relationship with him... if that is what you want.... also does he know you are currently single??0 -

I was thinking that too .. but then I started second guessing myself .. I don't want to annoy him. I can't like just come out and say .. hey .. I am ready to date you now ..lol. I suck at communication. Can't I just say it with sex?? grrr. lol.
I think I am leaning more towards the Marine. But I don't know if it is because he is a challenge right now. I suck that way. Give me two guys and I will always go for the one that is harder to get. I don't know why that is. Because I am a child. I am a 40 year old child. I feel like I need someone who is manly .. or I get too bored and walk all over him.0 -

all you have to do is a "Good morning, hope you have a wonderful day". It isn't over texting and if he wants to talk he knows he can text you back.0

I have nothing helpful to add, but I struggle with texting in the context of dating too! The last guy I dated started off at 300+ texts a day... a day! Weaned down to nothin' after a couple of months, but that's because it got old not being able to actually TALK in more than a texting paragraph. I don't believe in having a relationship over text. I'll take real life thank you.
Here's my take on texting though - You send a text and the other person get's to answer whenever it's convenient for them. Might be two minutes, might be four hours, could be a whole day... but you wait, you don't send text after text with no response - THAT'S when you cross the line into annoyance. 0 -
