Hellos. I just wondered if you do cardio on days you lift too? I have just completed 30DS and was thinking of doing another DVD (e.g. BFBM or Butt Bible) or go the gym 5 days a week (e.g. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) to do cardio then do SL on Sun, Tues, Fri.

Does this sound like I'd be pushing myself too much?? I don't want to overdo it or over promise and under deliver but at the same time I do have 76lbs of lard I need to shift from my body :ohwell:

Just thought maybe you guys could help with what worked from your experience

Thanks :flowerforyou:

You can do cardio on the same day, but I'd reverse your order. Definitely do SL first, then cardio in a day. You want to have all the strength to do SL.

And take it slow. Your plan sounds good, but don't be afraid to scale it back once the weights get heavy. You don't want to hurt yourself!

If you are overtraining, your body will let you know. You will begin to fail on your lifts. Your cardio will be lethargic. You will feel weak, unrested, and unwell. It takes some time to recover from this, so definitely avoid it.

I didn't used to. But recently, I started doing 20 mins on the elliptical before lifting. Yes, it tires me out some, but I find it necessary to really warm up. And it has really helped my lifting. Once, I skipped it, and lifting was a total fail. My muscles just won't cooperate like I want them to unless they're properly warmed up.

I cycle everywhere (to and from the gym and work, etc) so that is my cardio, up to an hour a day, alongside heavy lifting, had no probs yet...am swapping cycling for running now...gotta challenge this body...so hoping to do 40kms a week...was cycling up to 60kms per week, so seems a similar swap...

Listen to your body, try what you want, then adjust accordingly.

Sometime on weekends I'll go for a run or bike ride in the morning, then lift in the afternoon. With the space between the workouts I'm usually pretty rested and refueled, so it's never been an issue. That said, I could not lift then do cardio immediately after. I work hard when I lift, and usually don't have much left in the tank afterwards.
