November Goals & Challenges

Hello Everyone!!!
I have been a little MIA lately and am trying to refocus my goals. In order to give myself a good boost & hold myself accountable I would like to start a November Goal/Challenge for our group.
Let's all share some ideas of what we think may be a good group challenge for November.
For instance:
Setting a goal of walking/running/jogging (etc.) of 50 miles
Start tracking measurements
Getting in my 8 cups of water a day (at least)
What do you pals think?!?! Feedback & anyone willing to do the Challenge & post updates on Fridays along with our weekly weigh in?!?!?

Wow, 50 miles? That sounds like from here to the moon. Well what the heck, ok I'm game for it. Man I am tired just agreeing to that one. I already track measurements every two weeks, I certainly don't mind listing mine but I can see where some might not want to list their measurements so not to sure about that being a group goal, but I could be wrong it certainly wouldn't be the first time.0

50 miles does sounds like alot. And people can choose what amount of miles they think will work for them. If you think about it though 50 miles/30 days is about 1.6 miles a day. You can do that within 15 minutes on an elliptial! Besides, we are going to need to do something to work off all that Thanksgiving food! All in all it's a goal - as long as your working towards something, you are sure to show improvement.
As far as tracking goes, it's more of a guideline for myself to start tracking & updating that once a week too. Not so much of a thing that we need to share. Just need to start tracking it - at least that way we can say "i lost XX amount of inches" & that will feel awesome!

need some info.lol - the stationary bike I have, doesn't track mileage or speed (got it used at a great price) Hubby thinks maybe 10 minutes on it would equal a mile. Thoughts?0

I don't generally use a stationary bike, so I'm not too sure on this one. I did try researching it on the internet & from what I've read, most people were saying that begginers could do a mile in about 4.5 to 5 minutes! Hope that helps! If you have a smart phone, there is an app called endomondo that you can link to your MFP account and it will calculate it for you!0 -

This doesn't answer your question, but it is some good info from Betty B http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20111220110944AAk1TOd. As for the question, I don't know how you would possibly know the distance if you don't know the speed. Although I do have a suggestion :-) Alot of Gyms have 1 day get to know them passes, or even just a 1 day trial membership, so how about going to one and riding their stationary bike for 10 minutes and seeing how farit is, from there the math is simple.0 -
