Your best bet will be to google local restaurants and see what's gluten free near you. Here is a site I use: http://www.glutenfreeregistry.com You can do a state search and see what's available near you.

I don't know how strict you're being about cross contamination (which will seriously limit your restaurant choices if you are zero tolerance), but most Mexican food is gluten free, and I know that Wendy's is fairly good about not mixing stuff together (so if you just order something without a bun you're pretty safe). If you have a specific place in mind, you can always google the name of the place and "gluten free" — usually there has been discussion of it at some point (if it's a chain restaurant). I think there is also an app for finding gf-friendly restaurants! I think the main thing is to watch out for sauces — that's how they getcha!

I'm not sure about Wendy's. I was on their website recently to check their food allergens and most items noted that they contained wheat. Please be very careful.

Weird, I recently read something to the contrary. That they do have wheat items but that they have options that don't have gluten, and they try to keep stuff fairly separate. Also, I don't believe she is Celiac, but just intolerant, so general concerns of contamination might not be as strict as someone with Celiac.

GF bloggers seem to feel ok with it too:

I have seen gluten free options listed online for Olive Garden, TGI Fridays, and I believe Chili's. Cooper's Hawk Winery has a gluten free section on their menu. I rarely eat fast food anymore, but I was able to find a free iphone app called "Gluten Free Fast Food" that lists all menu items for all the major chains.

I'm new at this, and going out to eat makes me nervous! I guess it is good that cooking more is one of my goals! : )

How funny! I actually just looked up places in my state for this very thing like 10 mins ago!

I have been GF for 6-8 months now because im not exactly sure what im allergic to/level of allergies. In the last couple months I have eaten at a few places in my state (WA state) with mixed results. I am very insistant on asking the servers questions etc about the kitchen what exactly they do to ensure gluten is not in my food etc. I have been glutened 30% of the time :( It is very frustrating!

I looked a couple places up in Seattle and it seems there are some shops that are 100% GF which is exciting :)! I really hope with awareness restauraunts will offer "safer" options for GF people.

OK, so I checked some of the websites you listed and saw that salads and drinks are gluten free. Salads are pretty safe anywhere, but if you want anything else, like a burger or chicken, you need to be careful.

too bad none of these restaurants have CHILD FRIENDLY items, that is my problem. The only place we seem to have is boston pizza and that is getting old FAST!
