Weird...has this happened to you?

I had a diet Coke today with my Chipotle Grill Burrito bowl and was startled (as it's been MONTHS since I've had one) to realize I despised the taste of diet coke. It's like my taste buds have rejected it and it was sorta sickly sweet with a weird bitter aftertaste. I couldn't even finish my drink. I know I've had diet coke in the past but I'm wondering if this happened because I'm now avoiding artificial sugars. Weird.

Clearly you are ill and should see a doctor. I say this, in between swigs of diet coke....:P
good for you kicking the soda habit! I've reduced.... but wow I don't think I could ever give them up.
I figure if I've gone from 6-8 a day to 1-2 a day, thats major progress.0 -
I only like Diet Coke as long as it's ice cold. If I buy a can, I throw at least half of it away.
I've noticed there are a lot of things I will eat when I'm not dieting that I don't really like - for example sugar cookies. They're just sweet, I could eat a tablespoon of pure sugar instead. Bleh!0 -
I wish I had that problem! I gave up soda totally in March, after being diagnosed with reflux. I went cold turkey and did fantastically for a while, but now I have kind of backslid with them. I don't drink them often, but I can't seem to leave them alone completely. And when I do get one, it tastes HEAVENLY. I also don't eat/drink anything else with artificial sweeteners usually.0

yep, can't stand the taste of any diet drink, trying 4 more water.0

Still like them but they're not as good as I remember
I drink sparkling water for the bubbles with lime or lemon
squirt a little MIO in if I want some sweet.
Otherwise I've kicked the soda habit for ever0 -
I've actually noticed a lot of things taste and smell different now that I'm eating cleaner and avoiding sugar and fake food.0

Yes, it definitely happened to me with Dr. Pepper. I used to drink several a day now I don't drink any soda at all. I thought I wanted one at work and after a taste threw the rest out. Way too sweet and sugary!0

I indulge occasionally with a diet pepsi, and when I do, I smack myself upside the head. I feel instantly bloated, and dang are those burps loud!0

I've always been able to taste the artificial sweetners in them, and can't use the sweetner tablets or fake sugar in tea or coffee either. It's not a problem as soda is something I don't like. It's too sweet and my teeth feel like they're coated in fur after I've had some - that was why I tried the diet version only to find I didn't like that either. It's one less "bad" thing for me to worry about, but don't worry - I still have plenty more bad stuff I do like!0

I have found that since I inadvertently stopped drinking diet cokes (just trying to get in enough water a day did that!), i no longer have that awful bloaty feeling and stomach issues! It's amazing how much better I feel. As for the taste, not sure, it's ok, but the after effects are just not appealing to me anymore.0

I haven't totally given up diet soda, but when I switched to diet Coke with Splenda regular diet Coke started tasting really nasty to me.0

It's good to know I'm not alone. My taste buds do seem to work differently now. I even crave different types of foods.0

Can't stand the taste of diet pop or any of the 0 calorie sweeteners when used in anything, including baking.
I only have maybe 3 pops a year, never have been a fan. I drink water and coffee black.0 -
Can't stand the taste of pop anymore, diet is just off and regular pop is soo sweet.0

Yep have not had pop for almost two yers not that I have not had a sip of my DH's0

I have never liked the taste of diet pop....when I would drink one (once in a blue moon),it would make me feel sick. I think it's your body telling you how bad it is for you!! I gave up all Pop a long time ago. Sparkling water with real lime or lemon is good. And a pinch of stevia, if you want it sweeter0

I personally don't like the taste of diet coke. But give me a diet dr pepper, or a diet pepsi and I'm good. I won't give up my diet soda. I figure it's one thing I shouldn't have to. I run, I exercise, I eat clean,,,,except I'm gonna drink my diet soda. lol0
