Is it possible I've fallen out of love with Chico's?

Now that I can shop in regular stores...?

Do you have any favorite things that have changed with your weight loss?

My closet :(. I loved all the clothes I had before but I gave most to someone who appreciated every piece :).

I have found I can't buy pants from Coldwater Creek anymore - they're too big! I've become a huge used-clothing store shopper. With my size changing, I don't want to buy a lot of new clothes I hope to not be able to wear a long time!
  • My daughter turned me on to Goodwilll, Thrift stores and consignment shops - I got the BIGGEST BARGAIN ever a few weeks ago - silk Coldwater Creek jacket - retail a minimum of $119.....cost $9..... smelled like perfume so dry cleaning = $9.30 - total cost $18.30 - can you say "coup"?...need to find a pair of jeans that fit correctly and are attractive.....it will be a day in stores trying on jeans - sounds Horrible to me, but since jeans are my mainstay....The coldwater creek jeans I have are fitting NICER....but will not pay $79.95/pair....

I got a bunch of great jeans at TJ Maxx, and some perfectly perfect black slacks for work at Target! Who'da thunk it? ;c)

I'm also a gigantic fan of shopping for jackets and tops on ebay. As long as you know your size in a brand/style, it's a great way to go. Just be sure to shop for "New" or "New With Tags" (NWT)!

I've bought some used designer stuff on ebay -- love NWT, but a $1500 jacket that someone wore five times? I'll pay a fraction of that, get it cleaned, wear it for years.

Chico's is actually on my list of stores to try when I get my weight down a little more. With the exception of coldwater creek I have never stepped foot in any of the stores mentioned above. I just wasn't comfortable at 200+ pounds to go into them. They are all on my reward list!!

I still love Chico's and Coldwatercreek, but their skirts and pants don't fit me anymore. I love TJ Maxx, Marshalls and ....drum roll please...ebay! Chicos and coldwater were great till I was a US size 8 and sometimes 6. I have gotten a few great bargains (Ralph Lauren) at TJ Maxx and Marshalls... I am doing Project 333 so I am being pretty darn picky on my selections.

I check in on goodwill and salvation army at least once a month as my quest now is for fitted blouses for less than $20, all cotton. I have bought 3 at a WESTERN WEAR store in Houston on sale, and the fit is great.

Thank you pkw58 for the mention of Project 333. I hadn't heard of it so I checked it out. I am not down to 33 items for this season, but learning about it helped me complete a major closet cleanout!

You are welcome - Was it just me, or did the closet clean out feel like you were setting yourself free? I have a whole new attitude on spending money, what I eat and inspiration to keep and get even more fit...

I am not yet down to 33 items, but my work wardrobe is getting there!

I DO feel more free! I tried cleaning out my closet before but the idea of considering what my 33 most useful, favorite things was a great tool. I got rid of so many things that I am sure I will not miss and now I agree that my attitude has changed. If I want to bring in something new, I'd better like it better than something I already have, and what I already have is now just the useful, favorite stuff . . .

When I drop one more size, I'm going to Banana Republic to try on their Mad Men collection. Every piece.

Not quite out of plus BUT I now like COLORS. Before losing weight I stuck with BLACK or anything DARK (to slim me or so I thought) and I wore clothes that most ppl wld view as "granny" ...AWAY with the granny clothes and less dark clothes :):):)

I've started wearing pink again. It's such a "girl" color and never looked right on me as a "big girl" but now I've added it back. I wear sweaters again, cabled sweaters! I've gone from dull fall colors to brighter colors overall.
Never heard of Project333 but I'll check it out. Sounds like just what I need to get my new size 8 wardrobe together.
