Very interesting article indeed, I have experienced both sides of the coin - Motorists that are ignorant of the rights of cyclists (which essentially are exactly the same as motorists but they don think so) and cyclists that are ignorant of the rules of the road, many times I have stopped at traffic lights to see another cyclist fly past me and mount the kerb then rejoining the road after a junction or even crossing onto the wrong side of the road in front of cars to clear a junction, endangering pedestrians crossing and risking injury from cars. I recently even had a neighbour tell me he had more right of way when on the road because his car was more powerful than my bike!!!!
I dont think it will ever become safer in this country simply because many people have the attitude that cyclists somehow have fewer rights on the road than cars!0 -

+1 I tend to agree; the number of cars, vans, lorries, buses etc. that pass me with a foot to spare (sometimes less) at 60mph plus is a ridiculous, hence the reason for having a helmet mounted video camera and a rear pointing video camera running at all times while I'm riding - Just in case!0 -
