Indian Takeaways - Healthy Options??

Options
Hello Everyone

I love hot and spicy food and usually have a Indian Takeaway once a week. My favourite is a prawn bhuna with salad and spicy onions (no rice or chips). Not sure if this is the better option or not, anyone have any ideas??
Cheers Peeps

Why not just skip the takeaway and make your own? There are plenty of good Indian recipe books out there, not to mention some fab websites!!

Being Indian myself, the takeaways never do Indian cooking any justice! An Indian TV chef's site I can recommend (since Mum uses it and the recipes turn out fab!) is :
    http://www.sanjeevkapoor.com

Also Madhur Jafrrey is back on the box with a damn good cookery show, her website:

I agree with 'cook your own' but if you must takeaway occasionally try Chicken shashlik - dry marinated chicken with chargrilled peppers and onion. I'd pinch a spoonful of someone else's dinner for sauce .....

I have shashlik or tikka and ask for some green chillies on the side to some heat :). Also seems spicy poppadum is lower calorie than non-spicy, replace nan with Chiapata, also have boiled rice.

Thanks for this, to be honest I don't do much cooking but I would like to try and make my own Indian dishes (need to start getting creative in the kitchen). I'm going to give it a bash and let you know how it goes!
    Cheers :-)
