My family came in from Illinois for Thanksgiving... I was about ready to kill someone! So, I ate too much, hung out with the fam... Thennn Saturday night my friends took me out to my first bar. I was DD so I watched everyone get silly, and ran into a childhood friend. Actually, I was in LOVE with this kid when we were little. So we caught up and he asked for my number. I drank sugary non-alcoholic drinks and felt like **** the next day. The bartender kept looking at me like I was nuts when I'd say, "Can I get this WITHOUT alcohol?"

    How was yours?

My 4 day weekend was great! I was smart enough to come home on Saturday so on Sunday we could chill and catchup on housework before today. Best idea I've had yet!!! None of that "shock" of Monday's wake up time. eh 'cough" ....5:00 am.... BOO!

Unfortunately we come in this morning to work only to find out a co-worker passed away, and that the details are somewhat vague. Ugh. Totally unexpected. I wasn't personally close to him, but he was a laugh in a bucket! All you had to do was mention his name and you giggled.

Don't want to make this thread a downer, but...here's the moral of the story...his Beneficiary information isn't up to date...not by any fault of ours...we (Human Resources) had no idea his brother passed away (who was on his benefiary sheets)...so if you do anything for ME today  Go check that stuff out at work, or wherever you have your life/401K policies etc....

Great for giving the number Sham! And, lol about the drinks!! :) Sorry to hear about your coworker Farmers. :(

My weekend was great overall. The kids and I had a nice relaxing Thanksgiving. I cooked a big meal and we had PJ day with board games and movies all day. We spent Friday at Busch Gardens and had a blast. As I was pulling into the driveway, a good friend texted to say she was in town for the weekend, so we met up for drinks shortly after. It was great to catch up with her and just have some good laughs. I had a first date last night....it sucked. We met up to watch the Packer game (my team and his suggestion for a date) and got there about an hour early. He was really pushy and rude. We talked a lot before Packer game came on, and even during the game, but my eyes would wander to the tv (we were there to watch the game, right?). He got visibly upset when I did that. So, just too many turnoffs with that one. He asked for a second date via text, and I told him I just didn't feel a connection. He didn't like that answer, but it was the truth. So...Happy Monday!! :)

I've been off the last 9 days. I have 4 days of work this week and then I'm off Friday through Tuesday to go run a half marathon in Las Vegas. The break was great. I went to Texas and saw some friends, my mom and my grandma. For the most part, I didn't think grandma knew who I was but when I was driving her back to her home, she said it's great that I've lost so much weight. Of course, 2 minutes later she was calling me by my uncle's name and recalling a story about me that was from his childhood. Last Wednesday I drove from Houston to St Louis and spent Thanksgiving Day with my dad. I drove home that evening because I really wanted to sleep in my own bed. I put on 3 pounds over 8 days but made a good recovery this past weekend. From Friday through this moring, I lost 5 pounds.

I think this trip was good for me. Between a Hamstring injury, breaking up with a girl I really liked and stress and uncertainty at work, I've been going through the motions and felt like I was in a haze for about 2 months now. I think I finally have my focus back. It will be nice to have this half marathon over too. I look forward to really resting my legs and getting back to exercising for enjoyment rather than because I have to be prepared.

Guys tend to think girls don't actually like sports and are just saying they are to impress them. It was very poor planning on his part to take you to see something that would take your attention away from him.

Good for you. Time away and with people you love can really help with your stress. Sounds like you did a lot of driving. Good luck on the 1/2.

I worked, as usual. I did have a nice Thanksgiving late brunch with family and friends @Noon. No one wanted to cook so we went to a semi-formal clubhouse restaurant. I wore a shirt & tie that I got 3 years ago. It looked horrible on me. I am too small for it now. It looked oversized and poofy. I got a Xmas party to go to in early December with all the big wigs from my job. I guess I need to get a new shirt now.

@dbrightwell good luck in that 1/2!

I had a great "orphan" Thanksgiving with a bunch of my friends. Friday I had to work but finally saw Skyfall that night. Saturday went to a dual birthday party for 2 of my friends but I was in an odd mood where I didn't really want to mingle so left pretty early at 11pm. Sunday I spent on the couch watching cheesy Christmas movies on Lifetime and the Hallmark channel. Anyone else notice an uptake in Eharmony and Match.com adds?

Had a wonderful, relaxing 4 day weekend. Cooked on Thursday, ate like pigs. Friday pretty much hibernated - except for me escaping to Kohls which was a joke...

Saturday we road tripped to a nearby city to check out a bar/restaurant that was rated for one of the best brewpubs in Central OH, then to a great beer store, then to a near by winery - got my Mom Christmas presents and tasted a lot of wine.

Sunday ran a few errands and watched the pathetic Steeler game (it was almost comical), the man made quiche for dinner (he rarely makes dinner and it was REALLY nice not to have to think about it).

All in all a good weekend.

@lacroyx - enjoy shopping for a new shirt - you so deserve it!
@Farmers - my HR stuff is in working order - thanks for the reminder!
    @dbrightwell - Good luck in the 1/2!

Interesting. I had a first date like this once as well. I invited her to a sports bar b/c we were both into hockey to watch the Stanley Cup playoffs. So I came all decked out in my Red Wing gear, and she showed up dressed up. We talked before the game, then after it came on, like everyone else there, I was watching the game and we would talk between breaks. Had dinner and parted ways after the game. Asked for a second date and she informed me that if she couldn't keep my attention on the first date, it wasn't going to work out.
...I invited you out to WATCH the game. And we talked when they weren't playing. Sometimes I just don't get it.

LOL!!! Thank you!! :) He was all dressed in slacks and a button up. I wore jeans and heeled boots, but had my Packers shirt on with a lacy camisole under. I did my makeup, hair and looked girly. But, he asked me to go watch the game. He had initially asked me to go to his house to watch the game. I declined, because well...it's a first date. Thanks anyway. So, anyway.....I was completely focused on him before the game. But, he was so rude to the waiter. We ordered drinks when we first got there and told the waiter that we'd like to wait on dinner....he decided he was hungry just as the Ravens game was ending (and half of BW3's was leaving). So, instead of patiently waiting, he got up and chased down our waiter....and he almost did it again when it was time to get the check. It was just such a turnoff. I did give him my attention during the game, but again....there are tvs all over playing the game, people jumping up and yelling...how am I not supposed to look?

I have a really good Thanksgiving with the Family! Didn't eat too much and hung with friends after. I went on a 7th date on Friday and Sunday with a guy I really like and we have so much in common. We literally close down the restaurants and go to a bar to talk or chat some more. I am very excited about him!

I've actually had a really long weekend. Thanksgiving was fun because some family I haven't seen in forever came up to spend the holiday with my mom and grandpa and I. Saturday I filled my house with groceries and then went to a friends house and drank and played Apples to Apples all night. Sunday and tonight I've just been relaxing. Back to work in the morning :)

So I was off for 5 day and todays my first day back at work... What a weekend lol:bigsmile:

Wednesday night I went out with FFWB, and about 12 of my friends. Everyone was at the bar since no one had work the next day(but my poor Mr. NG who was still recovering from surgery and didnt want company). It also happened to be ladies night so it was extra busy. The funniest thing was when I was talking to a very old friend male friend(we were talking about how big the kids, his and mine, are getting) and FFWB pulled me aside and said does Mr Man over there know you have a BF lol.. Didnt get home til 5 am.Then FFWB and 3 of his guy friends came to the house to continue drinking and chilling. Kicked all of them out at 6 so I could sleep

Thurday I enjoyed a day of unadulterated freedom as no one was in the house or coming over. I cooked all the yummy goodness served myself and wrapped up the rest for whem my kids and sister got home on friday. Then I vegetated...

Friday I get a call from the kids father saying the kids spent the night at his moms and she wanted to keep them til saturday. Mr. NG had band practice and really wasnt up to hanging out yet.So I went out with FFWB and a friends of his. We met up with some of my friends at the bar. Problem was FFWB crazy ex showed up. Man some guys can pick em lol:huh: . We ditched her by running back to my house before hitting another bar. Then breakfast at denny's yum...I got home with the sun.

Saturday picked up the kids , went christmas tree shopping, FInally got to hang out with Mr.NG for about 2 hours before he went to his concert. My sister decided she didnt want to go out on her weekend off  :noway: So I went out with a couple of guy friends and was home by 3am...

Sunday I made chocolate chip waffles for breakfast, then made christmas cookies with the kids and decorated my christmas tree. Unfortanitly I managed to slip on a piece of wrapping paper in with the ornaments and hurt my bad ankle hich is now the size of a golfball.

Monday I cleaned like a mad women soaked my foot and tried to prop it up. Still hurts like a ***** though

Two concerts in 24 hours = shattered Diva. That, plus travel to and from said concerts = a very non-exciting weekend. On the plus-side, someone in the audience offered me a vintage fur coat they don't use (belonged to her mother) and thinks might fit me. As I regularly freeze in old, stone churches, singing a million Messiahs at this time of year, and struggle to find concert-appropriate/glamorous ways of staying warm, this offer is an exciting prospect, though I've no idea what condition it's in, or whether it will fit! She's bringing it to London when she comes to visit in a couple of weeks, so fingers crossed

NB. My apologies to anyone who believes that any and all fur-wearing is anathema - my perspective is that vintage furs are a fact of life - they exist and may as well be used.
