When I don't feel an immediate and overwhelming rush of shame, regret, and revulsion immediately following intercourse.

    Yeah. Mostly this.
When you can actually lie there for a minute before needing to get as far away from the person as possible.

Or just in general.. Being able to tolerate someone for extended periods of time. (1+ days). Because usually I can't be around ANYONE for more than a few hours at a time.

Don't blame me, blame human nature. Even this old school Roman poet knew the score:

    “Doing, a filthy pleasure is, and short;
And done, we straight away repent us of the sport.”
    - Petronius, 1st century AD

+I dont stop thinking about him. I go to bed thinking him, I wake up thinking him!

+all thoughts of my future contain him

+even if he treats me badly I still go back for more!

+I mention him in all conversations - 'mentionitis'!!

+I can't wait to see him

+I smile at him and my heart leaps

+I dont mind his smelly sox, working sweat, grubby clothes

    +I support his crazy ideas

+I want to cook for him :noway: (I dont really like cooking!)

+a text from him makes me smile like this  and sometimes jump with excitement! lol

+I never get bored of what he has to say

+I get butterflies when I'm going to see him, and when he touches me

Ok, so most of those are happening in the first throws of love, and some die off once you get more comfortable with each other, but in the absence of any of those I dont think the relationship will last for me :flowerforyou:

How come I dont get that feeling when I shag someone meaninglessly?? My FWB (before he was my FWB) said he would be delighted if I would use him for sex!! I dont think he repented either somehow!!!

Did you grow up being told your thing would drop off or something??

You never know! Just go with it till you decide life is better with or without that person. If he gives you what you need keep him around. Good luck with that question *hugs*

I have a laundry list of issues - that's not one of them, but close enough. :)

I think there is also a a chemical explanation surrounding the effects in the male brain. Or at least I'd like to think so.

I've always found love to be like a slow burn. Sometimes it can flare up, and sometimes it dies down to embers, but it always gives me warmth.

    /sappy

Geez that even grossed me out a bit :noway:

    You love someone?

When you've been apart from him for a month and every nice guy you meet makes you think of HIM and everything you do you STILL think would be so much better if only he were here.

    You love someone?

When the initial euphoria of being "in love" has worn off, and you still want to stick around.

when i have dreams of taking over the world and i know i wouldnt want him to be one the people i make pay for air/sunshine/etc. he can get it for free :flowerforyou:

seriously though, i think love would mean an sense of mutual come as you are acceptance, so being able to completely be myself without being self conscious about if he's going to think i'm weird or call interpol on me :glasses:
