A little depressed tonight

I started taking pictures of myself before starting the 30 day shred. Two weeks later, ready to start level 2, I FEEL different. I FEEL like my muscles are getting higher and tighter, yet the pictures still look like a dumpy, middle aged fat woman. I am no longer fat, according the the BMI I am in the mid range for healty BMI. I still have plenty of fat because I can feel it when I grab my own flesh. It's not loose skin, or old skin, it is grabby fat. I still look like every barrel shaped female in my lineage.

Some times it's hard to see our own transformation. Post some pictures in your profile- I'll bet we'll see a difference!0

I think it's pretty normal to see our own preconceived images when we look at ourselves. I bet those around you have really noticed a change. Are your clothes fitting looser? Do you have more energy? Do you feel stronger? If so, you're doing great! Let yourself enjoy it!0

Hi, I have two days to complete level 3. So nearly there!
I took photos at the start and again at the end of level 1. I like you, could see the difference in how toned my arms and core were but looking on the photos......zilch..... Keep on going as each set seems to concentrate on different aspects of your body. It closer to 60 days than the 30 for me to complete and I will take photos to see if the is a noticeable difference, I am still feeling and seeing differences myself. I am not sure I will have the nerve to post them as I am hoping that it is not just my minds eye that is being kind. The fact that you are doing this it has to make a difference, slowly, slowly as they say.
Am not sure if this is exactly encouraging hahah........
You are gonna look great, keep shredding!

It takes a lot longer to get the extra fat off. Keep at it, it will come off.
I was like that too. I kept at it and I have loose skin but the grabby fat is getting smaller.
I started at the beginning of August to give you a time frame for how long it took me. Every one is different.
Just keep going.0 -
Whenever I have started working out, I definitely felt thinner and more in shape before I looked it. That is normal. It's a process and keep it up and you will eventually see a change.0

Don't be so hard on yourself; normally what "we see" is not what "others see"
You say you feel better, hey, that's what matters--PROGRESS0 -
Thanks for your support and encouragement, everyone. I truly appreciate it. As much as I tried to tell myself that all this exercise isn't worth it, I did complete day 1 of level 2 in spite of myself. So, I guess that's a small victory!0

This ^
I might not be ripped or have six pack abs or look like the image i have in my mind but as long as my clothes are beginning to feel loose and I look great in them then I am content! And I feel healthier so it's definitely worth it!!
Stick with it!0 -
Definitely time for a clothes shopping trip. Try a personal shopper at Macy's or whatever. They charge nothing, just help you power shop. Ordinarily I am not a fan of "retail therapy" but something to compliment your shape will go a long way to helping you see yourself as a healthy, fit woman.0

Absolutely agree on this one!0 -
Hey lady, give yourself some credit! For a woman who couldn't do a push up, signing up to start something called a 30 day shred??? Just cause people are talking about it on here doesn't mean just anyone can do that, not at all.
Take me. I'm terrified just of the NAME of the thing. lol. (Ye may recall I can't do a push up either).
Keep it up, if you can do it, do it. If you can make yourself find the motivation to do it, do it. Changes that don't show in pictures may show in how many grocery bags you can carry easily, or how easily you pop up the stairs now... and theres the clothes... start digging around in your closet if the shopping isn't an option. Look for something that was too small a few months ago...
Good luck, and keep it up!0 -
I lost a few lbs and inches doing 30 Day Shred but there was no major transformation. Do I think it was worth it? Hell yeah! I went from a huffing and puffing barely keeping up uncoordinated mess to a better balancing, more energetic with more cardio endurance mess! After Shred I went from 20 mins on my elliptical to an hr! Instead of feeling like I'm having a heart attack after walking a few flights of stairs I could walk 24 flights, then jog them and tonite I ran them!
So keep it up and you'll realize the gains outweigh the losses!0 -
I have found that adding more walking time and more of mybarre3 and yoga to my day instantly lifts me and gets me out of that downhill slide to feeling depressed. ( Also playing my french horn, but I don't think that is for eveyone on the forum)
I am making a list on my "notes" application on my iPad.. it is a list of things to do when I am overwhelmed or feeling blue. You did one of the things on my list - post about it here!
The one thing I keep seeing posts on ... we didn't get out of shape overnight, so give yourself time to get into the shape you want to be.0 -
Don't worry too much - film and photos make people look bigger than they really are, that is why there is so much pressure on actors and models to keep thin. You know you are are looking better, and you feel better. They say the camera never lies, that's bollocks - it does! Don't be discouraged.0
