I would have to say that my favorite is Agent Aloysius Pendergast in the Preston/Child novels. He's just awesome with his super intelligence, Sherlockian tendencies, and the fact that he has an evil, criminally insane younger brother just makes him more interesting!
Fab books ...... but I am ticked off that Agent Pendergast was totally left out of the movie "Relic" ...... dumbnuts :grumble:
And I liked Paul Atreides (Paul Maud'Dhib) in the "Dune" books ....... better than the movies ......0 -
I'm seeing a lot of authors from the ROC publishing company. I like! I honestly haven't picked up a book that has that publishing stamp on it that I don't like. I'll have to check out some of those other authors.
Right now, my favorite would have to be Jesse James Dawson from K.A. Stewart's books. He's such a badass. Long haired, sarcastically hilarious modern day samurai who kills demons for a living. Sounds like a bad anime, but the books are FANTASTIC. Start with A Devil In The Details.
In reference to my earlier post, I started reading The Dresden Files. I'm seeing some similarities between Mr. Dresden and Mr. Dawson. Based on the publishing dates, the character in Stewart's novels is probably heavily influenced by Butcher's character. Quite good. I'm enjoying the books so far.0 -
Nathanial and Edward from the Anita Blake series (I will agree with the earlier post...the sex just got to be too much).
Jinx from The Hallows
Lestat (really, how could you not love him?)
I'm not completely sure if it would fall in the sci-fi/fantasy but...Hatter Madigan from The Looking Glass Wars Trilogy by Frank Beddor
And now I definitely need to look into the Dresden Files.0 -
Tailchaser is awesome too form TAILCHASERS SONG. Love that book.0

Another Dresden girl here (75% through the latest book - gahhh!) but I also have room in my heart for Phedre and Joscelin from the Kushiel series and Jaime Lannister from the Song of Ice & Fire books (he's not at the point in the show yet).0

Fave 'modern day' fantasy = Harry Dresden (Jim Butcher)
Fave 'vanilla' fantasy = Jimmy the Hand (Raymond E Feist)
Fave 'humorous' fantasy = Sam Vimes (Terry Pratchett)
Fave 'old-school' Sci-Fi = James Bolivar DiGriz aka 'The Stainless Steel Rat' (Harry Harrison)
Fave sci-fi = Ciaphas Cain (Sandy Mitchell)
And thanks for the suggestions I've gotten from this thread!0 -
Any Earthsea fans? Sparrowhawk/Ged is a great character. Great books.0

In early adulthood, I would have chosen Elric from Michael Moorcock's series. So brooding, so tortured, so conflicted!
Older and wiser, I would choose either Lannister brother from ASOIAF, or any character of Joe Abercrombie. Any of them at all. He is that good.0
