Has anyone ever heard of this brand? From what I read on the Amazon reviews, it sounds like this company is very new to the US but has been in business in Australia and Europe. The reviews are generally excellent and compare it to a Medela hospital-grade pump (Lactina) and personal-use pump (Swing). No one compares it to the Medela Symphony, the hospital-grade pumpI used for a month, considered the "Cadillac of breast pumps," which is unfortunate because I would appreciate that comparison, nor does anyone compare it to the Medela Pump-In-Style, with which many of us are familiar.
I am suspicious because they profess it be a hospital-grade pump at a personal-use pump price.
I am going to buy a second pump after I have this baby as a backup and/or to keep in my office (since my insurance reimburses me for a chunk of the purchase price), and while I love my Avent double electric and was planning on buying it again, I'm considering trying this out instead. Amazon's return policy is so good (assuming this follows Amazon's typical policy) that I feel like I have nothing to lose. If it doesn't work out, I still have my Avent and can then get another one.
Silicone massagers (like what my Avent pump has) are an extra $10, but that's not a big deal to me. Otherwise the only downside I can see right off the bat is that, in pink, it looks like a giant boob. My Avent pump looks like the baby of the girl robot from Wall-E.

Maybe by the time I am actually going to buy another pump, I will have heard more about this company and its pumps, but I figured I'd ask.
Does anyone know anything about this company/pump? Thanks!!!

I have never heard of that brand and to be honest it doesnt seem like there are enough reviews to sway me personally to buy it. I would wait to see if more ppl review it.
I have looked into the Ameda Purely Yours. http://www.amazon.com/Ameda-Purely-Yours-Breast-Pump/dp/B004E9SW7G/ref=pd_cp_ba_2 this was actually the pump my midwife told me to get. She said it more sanitary than the Medela and its the pump my labor and delivery hospital uses0 -

Good to know! The lactation consultant at my hospital pushes Medela pretty hard (to the point where I almost wonder if they are paid to do so), and not just with pumps but also nursing bras, etc. They did sell some Ameda pumps, too, though, and she did have nice things to say about them. It sounds like Ameda's customer service is great, so if I had a problem, it would be handled properly, plus my insurance reimburses up to $150, which means I would be fully reimbursed if I bought this pump (with the Avent one, I'd have to eat $20 or $30). I would probably have to buy additional accessories (bigger flanges), but they don't appear to be too expensive, and if I needed to, I could probably buy them from the lactation consultant. I like the closed system, too, which is what my Avent has, so there's no chance of getting milk/moisture into the tubes and thus into the pump motor. Medela is the worst for that!
Thank you for the suggestion! I will do more research as I get closer to buying. I love my Avent pump (really, I do!), but I wonder if I couldn't get similar results with something else. I would hate to have a problem with my Avent pump and then have the same problem with a newer one, too - kind of like putting all my eggs in one basket, you know?
I also appreciate suggestions other than Medela. While the hospital-grade Medela Symphony was awesome, I was not impressed by the Pump-In-Style. It's highway robbery to demand upwards of $300 for a mediocre pump when there are much better pumps out there for half the price. I feel like new moms are brainwashed to think "Medela or die."0 -
You are sooooo correct that people push the Medela pump way to much. Looking at the price there was absolutely NO WAY i was going to be buying one. After talking to my midwife and nurses the Ameda seems to be the best choice and the price is not bad at all. I recently found out that I will not have a job when i am done with maternity leave so now i dont really think i need an electric breast pump. Iwill most likely just buy a manual one for the time being0
