What are you doing this for?

I recently started a raw food diet, with the intention of sticking with it until Christmas so I could lose a bunch of weight before then. Well now it's been almost 2 weeks, and I don't know if I'm going to stop, because 1) it's so easy, way easier than I thought it would be - a lot of what was holding me back over the years before was thinking it was going to be "too hard", 2) the results have been AMAZING - I've lost about 0.5 lbs a day since I started, without even having to try, and 3) there's actually a lot you can eat; I was surprised, I thought I'd have to be eating the same thing over and over. But now that I've learned about all these different butters and oils and seeds and whatnot, I feel like I almost have too much variety.

Now I'm not sure if this will be just a diet or a long-term lifestyle change. I guess I'll just have to see how my body feels over time. But so far, my body seems to like it a lot!

So what's everyone else here for? How long have you been doing it, and how much longer do you plan to keep it up? Is it a diet or a way of life?

I am being sporadic---but after New Year's I plan to do it more or less permanently and not just for weight loss

    I FEEL AMAZING
    THE FOOD TASTES BETTER
    IT'S WAY HEALTHIER
    BOOSTS CREATIVITY TO MAKE MEALS
MY HAIR SHOOTS UP IN LENGTH
    ENERGY WISE --MORE GREEN
FITS IN WITH MY GRANOLA-HIPPIE PERSPECTIVE
ALLOWS ME TO GROW AND EAT FOOD RIGHT OF THE VINE

Yeah--after the holidays on it for life--hopefully.
I cannot be 100 per cent raw--I have to have fish----or faint--but plan to cut back t maybe only 5 days a week

I'va always done raw on and off for years. Lately, the weekends are usually all the way raw and the week days are usually two out of the three meals raw and snacks. I don't really know where I am going with being raw but I am certainly enjoying it. I picked up a new book yesterday so I can get some more meal ideas. :)

I am here trying to make the raw lifestyle stick. Mainly for health reasons but also as years go by I feel more and more sure that I don't want to eat meat anymore, ever. I am launching with a 30 day juice fast then 70 days 100% raw. I started a blog to help keep myself on track:

Today is day three of my juice fast. So nice to have support here on this board!

I started a raw foods diet primarily for health reasons. I had a myriad of diseases running rampant, and then got the diagnosis of breast cancer. I used raw foods to treat the cancer. Within 3 months, it was gone. My oncologist said he'd never seen such results even with chemo and radiation (I did neither... opted out of surgery as well). A nice side effect was that all of my "uncuttable" diseases disappeared as well. I lost 60 pounds in a little over 3 months and felt AMAZING. Then we moved cross country, had a lot of stress, and a multitude of crisis after crisis and nevertheless, I completely fell off the wagon. Regained a majority of the weight, all of my symptoms returned and was sick again. So, my biggest focus is getting healthy again. The weight loss is just an added bonus.

    Ani's Raw Food Essentials

I found it at the Half Price Book store for about $8. Not a bad deal.
