Hi - guess I should go first:)
I am 40, married, with 4 kids. I live in the UK,and have the benefit of the NHS.
My husband was retired due to ill health 4 years ago - he has severe psoriasis, diabetes and progressive psoriatic arthritis. He is semi-mobile and semi-self medicating. He also has clinical depression which fluctuates in severity.
My eldest son is 12 and autistic. Currently enrolled in mainstream school, he only attends part time as they can not cope with him. We are fighting fir a place in a specialist school. He is extremely intelligent, and highly sensitive to all sensory input. He is socially about 2 years old, and the temper tantrums are "fun"
I have a 7 year old daughter who has undiagnosed gastro issues, resulting in faecal incontinence.
I also have a 9 year old daughter who is healthy and normal and a 2 year old son who seems good so far, although he has some speech delay (no other signs of autism though)
I work in a school to ensure I can be home when the kids are. It worked really well until my son was put on part time schooling!
We have no support from "the authorities", and family are too far away to offer physical help. The internet is my lifeline!
I started mfp in January 2012 after realising that if I didn't stay fit and healthy we were totally ****ed!!!!

HUGS. It is not easy being a carer and all too often we try to "self medicate" with food. I had a knee replacement in November and, by the time I had organised respite care for hubby, it was a relief to finally be admitted to hospital. To me, the ultimate luxury would be to be able to just concentrate on me whenever I have health issues. Hubby and I both had a rather nasty respiratory virus over Christmas. One of us got to rest, LOL. Take care.0
