Newtown CT priests need our support

The following is an excerpt from a letter written by a sister of one of the priests serving at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown, CT. In addition to the grief the priests at St. Rose must be feeling as they bury children that they knew and comfort the families, they have been subjected to hate and threats for doing God's work in this tragedy. If you have a moment to send these good men Christmas greetings to let them know that Christians are praying for them, it would be helpful to them during this very difficult time. Here is the excerpt from her letter describing the persecution the priests are enduring. After the excerpt is the address of the church, if you want to send a card or letter.
“The rectory has received serious threats, and as my brother gave the homily Sunday at the noon Mass, the church had to be evacuated by SWAT teams. After experiencing identity theft and online hacking incidents, he had to erase all of his internet accounts. After a weekend of endless media requests, notifications and vigils with heartbroken families, and little sleep, he now has two wakes and two funerals every day, until the fourth Sunday of Advent. Fr. Luke has not even been ordained for two years.”

Christmas card sent. Prayers continuing! The prayer that has been flowing from my lips since I first heard about this is ST. Michael, the Archangel. We all need protection from the evils of this world!0

As a counselor at a major university in California, my heart goes out to all of the children, families, friends and communities affected by this tragedy. What bothers me the most is that the media is so quick to point the finger at some entity to blame instead of focusing on how to help.
Don't crucify me, but my personal stance is "We've tried taking God out of our schools and out of the Pledge of Allegiance - THAT DID NOT WORK. So why not give people the religious freedom to have God (or whatever religion they choose to practice) in schools."
I will definitely be sending a card.0 -
I couldn't agree more.0
