Treats To Eat That Are Gluten Free

Ok... now I know we all must "shop the perimeter"... however, I was wondering if we could all pitch in with a list of "gluten free" foods that ARE actually packaged.

I'm all for the whole foods, but you know what? We all need a treat sometimes...... so here's what I've found thus far:

Simple Truth Vegetable Sticks (Ralphs)
Ore Ida sweet potato straight fries
Angie's Artisan Treats - Holidrizzle Kettle corn White Chocolatier Peppermint

Ok, can we all add to this list please? I think it would help each other out a lot.

(PS - If there is another thread on here for this I missed I apologize... I looked and didn't see one.)

Luna nutrition bars are ALL gluten free, according to the company
Blue Diamond Nut Thins are great crackers, and relatively cheap
Snyder's gluten free pretzels are lower in sodium than any other GF pretzel I've ever seen, and pretty good
Bags of baby carrots with peanut butter on the side
Black Licorice Scottie Dog's from Trader Joe's
    Udi's gluten free granola
    Udi's GF muffins and cookies
    Jelly Belly jelly beans
Diana's Bananas Banana Babies (frozen, chocolate-covered bananas)

Blue Diamond Nut Thins are the bomb! Probably one of the best crackers I've had in a long time. I love the pecan ones.
So Delicious coconut ice cream. I'm dairy & soy free to, and they are really good.
    Dark Chocolate
    Red Wine - LOL

That about does it for my treats. Anything else, I make from scratch.
  • They have fruity pebbles ceral bars that are gluten free. 90 Calories too.

Oooh nom nom! Forgot about hummus! Thanks for the reminder!!!

BTW, on my last "Costco Extravaganza" (aka toilet paper, paper towel and quinoa trip).... I found that Costco's Kirkland brand has cashew clusters with almonds/pumpkin seeds that are AWE AWE AWE AWESOME - and say "gluten free" on the bag! They are delicious if you need a "sweet tooth" fix..... very, very tasty! Two thumbs up!

Does anyone have more suggestions that are GF and low carb (sugar free) as well? Meals are easy as far as GF goes but I have to be low carb (sugar) also so can't have a lot of the GF treats/snacks out there.

I like to place pecan halves on a baking sheet, use a basting brush and brush on a little melted coconut oil, sprinkle with cinnamon and splenda..... YUM! You could use almonds for this also.

Also love fresh strawberries with a little whipped cream (homemade) and splenda

polenta - thinly sliced, fried till crispy in coconut oil, the drizzled with just a little honey. It sounds weird but I love it!
They also make a cilantro and green chili polenta that is great with sour cream and salsa.

Avocado sliced with a dab of sour cream and fresh salsa

    Lindt Dark Chocolate (or Ghiradelli)

If you happen to be somewhere they're available, Cookies Con Amori (http://www.cookieswithlove.com) makes fabulous GF Italian cookies and my current favorite, Linzer Tart cookies. Not low-cal, but a treat! For everyday treat, I spread a tiny bit of Trader Joe's Creamy Peanut Butter on sliced apple.

    Homemade chips.
Slice a potato into chips, stick in microwave until crispy. Eat with salsa. Pat stomach with satisfaction and declare life is good.

Or dark chocolate. Can't beat that stuff.
  • Chocolate Rice Chex and Immaculate Baking Co. GF chocolate chunk cookies! So yummy my hubby ate it all!
  • I love to baked sliced apples and cranberries with a drizzle of honey and sprinkle of cinnamon on top. It's like apple crisp without the crisp! The same mixture can also be pureed in a blender to make an amazing apple sauce-type treat. I'm guessing it could be frozen into a sorbet too, although I haven't tried that yet.

I love Crunchmaster -- mostly the crackers with roasted garlic and sea salt & the flatbread with rosemary and sea salt. They're awesome! I get them at Costco.

Also, love Skinny Pop Popcorn that I get I Costco.

Must agree with the Dark Chocolate, too. Dove Promises are the best because I can control, 1-5 pieces, how many I eat. If I sit down with a bar, I will demolish it! LOL

Lindt chocolate in the bars is gluten free but the truffle balls are sadly processed in a facility that processes products containing wheat. :(

I like Endangered Species Chocolate bars. They have several flavors and they're all gluten free.
Kettle Chips are all GF so my daughter can have her much missed BBQ chips.
If I need a salty sweet snack I like to make kettle corn at home. I just pop some popcorn in a little coconut oil and sugar in my Whirly Pop on the stovetop. Drizzle a little butter and sprinkle with salt and it's so good!

And I just recently discovered Lara Bars. They are tiny, but pack a punch at 200 calories. They are just dates, nuts and fruit. So they are a little high on the sugar content because of the dates, but have a good bit of protein and fat as well. Great for keeping on hand if you're out and about and need something to go.

Also many of the Lindt truffle balls contain malt extract (barley.)

Kind bars are good. I like the dark chocolate cherry.
