Here are some of the tricks that i use:
I ask myself these questions:
"Am i hungry or bored?"
If you answered hungry then ask: "When was the last time i ate?" if it was more than 2 hours then eat your next meal consuming only half of it.
If you answered bored," go and do something active, go for a walk, do push ups, brush your teeth (i know weird but it helped me) do not sit there and let the feeling over take you.
"How much water have a drank so far?" Down an 8 oz cup of cold water.
99% of binging happens because of emotional or lack there of, emotional stimulation. Just be cognizant of these situations and ask yourself these questions to help ward off binges.

i also finding constantly having a cup of green tea to sip on is great as it fills you up and gives you something to do instead of binging on food =]0

Hi, new to the group and first time on a message board. I find that I tend to binge (ever since I was a child) when I'm overly tired. One thing that has helped is going to bed at a regular time EVERY night. If I don't get enough sleep, then a vicious cycle begins... tired, no exercise, depression, guilt, binge, exhaustion after a binge, and a poor night sleep... and so on. This cycle then continues. To get out of this is EXTREMELY difficult. But just as a few others have mentioned, I see this as a true addiction and try to contro my addiction by focusing on my eating 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day, at a time. Build upon my successes rather than focusing on my failures. If I am in this cycle, I also try to remember that when I feel the urge to binge, try sleeping instead. I know that's hard to do, but even a 15 minute catnap helps.0

So, I just found a few things that help. One is to always have a bottle full of herbal or fruit tea to drink constantly. It helps keep me full and I like the taste.
When I get a craving for my usual sweet/salty foods, I make a cup of cinnamon apple spice tea. It's very spicy and warm, and I add a little sugar and a little salt (yes, salt...but only a tiny bit). The result gives me a combo of sweet and savory...almost like salted caramel. It satisfies me for the moment and because I only use a little sugar I can drink more than one cup if I need to.
I'm also trying to focus on foods that I can eat ALOT of and has few calories. This week I'm making a ton of soup made with low fat chicken broth, celery, carrots, parsnips and onions. I can eat 2 or 3 cups and it's still very low calorie, so I still feel full with little food.0
