Conventions?

Anyone have a list of Cons for this year? This is what I have so far:

C2E2 (Chicago)
San Diego Comic Con
New York Comic Con
Baltimore Comic Con (my local Con)
Supernatural Chicago Con (go ahead and laugh ;) )

This will be my 3rd SDCC. I was sad I missed it last year!

I've never been to a Con, but Louisville has one called the Derby City Con that people around here have been talking about

Depends what kind of a con you're looking for.

E3 (electronics/gaming) is in June, GenCon (gaming) is in August, Origins (gaming) is probably in May/June again, Wizard World Comic Con is in March for STL (where I live), ACen (anime) is usually May/June around the Chicagoland area, Archon (game/anime/scifi?) is in October I think, and Anime St. Louis is in April. There are a couple others my friends go to, but those are the ones I remember offhand.

Sorry for the double post, but one of my friends wanted me to add Dragon*Con in Atlanta every Labor Day weekend.

I've never gone to a con which is really sad since I live just north of Boston.. I really ought to go to one sometime this year...

Any suggestions on what ones/where to go?

I am really hoping to make it to C2E2 this year because it's the closest general one to me (as far as I know/I'm in St. Louis). If I end up going it will be my first! I'd like to visit more in the future - I've heard good things about San Diego and Dragon*Con.

I already know I'll have to have my River Song dress taken in by the time April comes along! :)

C2E2 is a great show! I think it's a nice starter Con because San Diego is a mad house, seriously.
  • Dragoncon (as usual, hard to skip it living in Atlanta)
    Maybe Wondercon in Orlando.

skipping the parade though. After last year's event I was pretty disquested. I wish politics would stay out of my fantasies.

I went to DragonCon this past year for the first time but I prefer Anime Weekend Atlanta. DragonCon was just so big and you have to spend an hour waiting in line if you want to make sure you get into a panel. AWA spoiled me (I have gone for the past 5 years) and while it is big for an anime con I have never worried about not getting into an event.

Anime Boston doesn't disappoint. Then there's ConnectiCon, and in RI the NecrinomiCon (HP Lovecraft themed Con-I died laughing at the name)
  • Definitely going to Anime Boston *hopefully* going to NYCC and Connecticon as well.

the secret to DragonCon is that you have to be in a clique to get into most events without waiting. *yawn* The "elite" geeks and costumers pretty much rule that show. I'm just going to the dance parties. Who cares about anything else. But the costumes are amazing - some heavy hitters and fithy ritch people really do put on some amazing shows.

Assasination city and Alamo city may be options for me too. I missed the dallas con last year by one day due to work. Excellent location for it but only one hotel within walking distance!

    Denver Comic Con in May
Masters Edition Sealed Event (Not a con, but monstrous nonetheless) Las Vegas in June
Nan Desu Kan maybe in September.

I went to my first D*Con last year and had an amazing time. LOVED the zombie prom. The impromptu dance circles with the Ghetto Stormtrooper made me laugh so hard I almost peed. And the concerts... and the art room. We never did make it to the panels, but we did watch most of them on DCTV. John Barrowman had me laughing so hard! And so did Jonathan Frakes. I am apparently a good luck charm, because of the no-line-registration. The Walk of fame lines were insane too, so I'd pick the smaller ones and had a more meaningful and fun time!

The only reason I'm not going this year is because too much stuff happened to prevent it, but I'm going next year. This year is going to be local, and all about StarFest 4/19-21 and Denver ComicCon 5/31-6/2.

Seriously. I did it 5 years in a row. *face palm* But I lived there and had 'ins'. When it got too big is when I quit going...
