Hi,
New to the PS3 and trying to get into Skyrim, but I am finding myself unsure as to what would be the best breed of person to have.
I made a high elf, but find, having got as far as escaping the dragon, that I still only seem to have my fists to use... I have no idea how to get a weapon or which buttons I use to arm myself with a weapon etc.

Anyone got some basic starting tips? Thanks.

    Well, I played as a Nord, and was a blacksmith. Made all my own stuff, and all my followers stuff and that was fun. Right now I am playing a dark elf thief.

    As you start to escape the first dragon you'll follow someone. Along the way out of town / buildings they should tell you to pick up a weapon or two. If not, you should see some laying around here and there. Not sure of the PS3 control scheme but you'll want to go into your inventory and see what weapons or armor you may have picked up and equip them.

    Pick the race that has the best racial abilities (resist magic, fire, cold, +extra mana, +water breathing, etc) that you want or that looks how you want. You really cannot pick a wrong race.

    I wanted to be a thief / archer so I played as a Khajiit for the initial bonuses.
    +10 Sneak
    +5 Archery, Lockpicking, Pickpocket

    You should be able to pick up a weapon and armor when you are escaping the dragon!

    Follow one of the dudes during the dragon attack and there'll be a body to loot once they untie you. Put on dead guy's clothes and swing dead guy's little axe to victory.

    Thankyou those who were helpful rather than commenting on my poor use of a word due to being too tired to come up with the correct term when fatigued :)

    I chose to begin with a Khajiit, and worked out how to loot and obtain weapons as well as equip.

    I chose a dark elf and I followed the nords because the imperials were trying to kill me right before the dragon showed up. lol

    That's the way to do it. Just play whatever race you want. A good way to quickly level up is blacksmithing and enchanting. Also gives you very high quality equipment to go raise hell with :)

    Have fun, I need to go download the new DLC and get into it.
