Can't stomach plain water anymore :(

Are any of you finding that since you've become pregnant that drinking plain water makes you feel bleurgh? Before I realised that I was pregnant I noticed that I could taste chlorine in the water.I used to love my water and now I feel sick just at the thought of it.

I never can stomach it. I drink a lot of decaf tea with skim milk. :)

I've actually had the opposite happen (though I'm nearly 22 weeks, so well beyond the morning sickness/food aversion point). I used to drink sparkling water like a fiend. We even bought a SodaStream because I would buy 2-liter bottles of seltzer/club soda/sparkling water and would go through them like crazy. I just wasn't that into plain water, and I'm very sensitive to "tastes" in water. Certain brands of bottled water are off-limits to me. (We grew up with well water, which had tons of iron in it, so we had a water cooler with spring water in our kitchen for years, so I was "spoiled" by good water. It was only a few years ago that my parents' house was connected to city water/sewer.)

At 8 weeks I was dealing with mild morning sickness (ie, feeling nauseous all day but no vomiting) when I got the stomach bug. All of a sudden I couldn't drink sparkling water anymore.

I even tried having some last week, no dice.

However, all I want to drink is nice, cold, ice water. I add a little lemon juice for flavor and for its diuretic effect (per my OB's instruction, since I'm already getting a bit of leg swelling).

I used to be a coffee nut, too, but now I taste every little piece of plastic in that coffeemaker that leaches into my coffee, so it tastes awful.

Chances are, this will pass, if not after your first trimester, after you have your baby. In the meantime, try some alternatives, like sparkling water or adding a bit of lemon juice or (yum) cucumber slices!

Yes that happened to me and it did pass eventually around 10 weeks but I had to put some lemon in it or just flavour it a little bit which helped immensely. Now at 17 weeks I can't get enough water.

Me too!! Lately I've been drinking very watered down juice in order to mask the taste of the chemicals in the water. I'm glad to read this cause I thought I was going crazy!

That's how I have been. I went from drinking 10+ cups a day pre-preggo and then almost none (before I even knew I was preggo--just couldn't handle water)...talk about headaches! I'm 20 weeks and just starting to be able to drink water without puking it up all the time--I have resorted to mixing water with Pedialyte and that seems to help for some reason. Hope you find your solution soon, because dehydration sucks!
