Arby's

Just saw the KFC post and I thought I'd let everyone know what I've learned while working at Arby's. It is not safe for a gluten free person to eat ANYTHING out of the friers. Everything is fried in the same friers, so while the fry's should be OK for us but they're not, because the oil is cross contaminated. Just wanted to give ya'll a heads up.

That's pretty much good advice for anyplace that has fried food really, in my research because of being GF (and also having a shellfish allergy) that's pretty much what I've found at all restaurants. I had to give up French fries unless I make them at home because it's potential cross contamination anywhere else

I was actually shocked when I learned about this. I guess I had thought that knowledge of Celiac's and Gluten Intolerance was more wide spread than that. That they don't even care, to me its just crazy!

Wendys and McDonalds have dedicated fryers for their fries. In 6 years of working at Wendys I neve saw anything else go into the fryer. But we have a really really well run Wendys, others might not be as strict.

This makes since, I've avoided fast food because I was worried about cross contamination. Good to know about McDonald's and Wendy's. I think the temptation would still be too great for me, but maybe down the road when I've reached a more sustanable / realistic weight I might treat myself to a small fry reward. :D
