Group Therapy

Gone to my second session and I am seeing whether or not it will help in my recovery with binging and purging. Some of the girls don't want to change, I am like why are you here. I do recommend going if you have it available in your area. It is nice being around people who go through what I do, it has been a very lonely journey.

I wish there was one in my area. It would be so nice. Good for you for trying it out :)

I personally didn't like group therapy because I am competitive by nature and found myself comparing myself with the other people in group... but if it works for you, that's what's important! :)

I hated the idea of group therapy at first. I'm very shy, quiet, and competitive--all of which made group therapy seem like a bad idea. However, when my doctors and therapists gave me the option of an intensive outpatient program (90%) group based and inpatient hospitalization, I chose the group. The group was three days a week about five hours a day. The other women in the group were so helpful and inspiring. Many of them had gone through thing similar to me and gave great advice on how to deal with whatever I was going through. Despite it being a small group of about 8-10 women we were all in different stages of recovery. It was inspiring in the beginning to see how far others had come. As new people started to join the program I found myself wanting to do well to give hope to the newcomers.
I've since moved across the country and hope to find a group here.

I actually have had more success with my friends here and their support than any outside group The people I have met here really get it, they don't judge, they understand when you have setbacks but are there for even the littlest success... So reach out, read some threads, and friend them!
