New to group & looking for support

Hello, I am new to the group and to Fitnesspal.
I was diagnosed at age 29. At first I was on shots then I moved to the Animas pump for years. I have been on shots for the past
1 1/2 - 2 years due to loss of insurance.
I was part and helped run a Type 1 Diabetes Support Group in Northern California. But we moved in July and now I have no one around me for support.
I have been working out religiously 3-6 days a week with lots of cardio and some weight training for strength.
But I am really struggling with losing weight.
It will just NOT come off.
Any suggestions? Any one else with this problem?
Just looking for support and encouragement & ideas.
Thanks

Welcome, Kellie.
My suggestion is to keep at it! It took me a couple weeks to begin losing when I started on MFP and even then, it was a slow pace. It took my first 8-10 lbs lost to realize my new habits were actually DOING something to my body. I realized the combination of not just exercise but also healthy eating was the key (I've always been fairly active but ate whatever). I've never lost weight in my life, only slowly gained (like 1-3 lbs a year) and the concept "it takes as long to take it off as it did to put on" has rang true for me. Also, I found the most success working out 6 days a week with the 7th being exercise free, even just 15 minutes makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something. I also tend to let the days snow-ball out of control if I don't workout those 6 days. Before I know it, it's been a week with no exercise which makes it that much harder to get back into the groove.
I know you didn't ask and I can't see your diary but I wanted to mention this as well: I know many people handle low BS correction calories differently with varying success but I always log what I eat. I know it doesn't seem fair that we waste calories on food we don't necessarily want but logging it gives me awareness. My biggest hindrance before was not knowing what I ate. At least I have the information now and despite what the scale says, my body and my diabetes have only improved since I began on a healthier life style.
I hope you hang in there, I know it's tough but the weight will follow eventually. And hey, look at it this way - there is a good chance that you'll lose weight and inches with healthy eating and exercise. We all know the odds of weight loss when sitting on the couch. You can decide if you want to play the odds.0 -
Thank you for the advice and encouragement. I really appreciate it.
I am looking forward to seeing a difference made. Just like with diabetes it takes a while to see your A1C results to come down I need to look at losing weight and living with diabetes the same way.
Thanks again for the response.

Hey! I am also new to the groups portion of Fitnesspal. I have been using the app on my phone on and off for a year or so. I have been T1 for 12 years and have been slightly overweight ever since i was diagnosed. I have been working out fairly regularly since September of last year and just lately noticed a change. I've only lost about 11 lbs but I'm happy to finally be losing a bit!0

Thank You everyone for the support I really do appreciate it. I am loving the idea of having other Type 1's as encouragement. It's nice to know people who are in the same boat as you.
I have been working out for months and although I am not losing weight like I would like. I do feel so much better emotionally and mentally when I work out.
I look at it like, working out is not bad for me at all. I may not be getting the results I want (right now) but it is not hurting me at all my working out daily.

Hi:)
I too feel as if I've had a hard time with losing...just look at my ticker... LOL! In fact, I just went to my endo's last week and my weight was at an all time high. I must say though that I truly fell off and was just eating and eating and eating, oh and pushing buttons on my pump! Anyway, I don't know if I should blame most of the problem on the fact that I'm a T1 or that I'm over 40. I sure can't drop the pounds like I used to be able to. Glad to see you here! Feel free to add me also.
