Hi everyone. I am a newby here.

Hi. My name is Melissa. I am 31 years old. I am married with no children, but have wanted my own for some time now. My hubby of almost 7 years isn't ready yet. Very frustrating. I do have a cute three year old puggle (pug and beagle). Her name is Jaylin and she is very loveable, hyper, naughty, but a joy to have around. I am currently working as a full time nanny to a four year old girl. I work with an Indian family and there has been a few opportunities to witness to them by inviting them to various church events. I have enjoyed this job tremendously. Before I was a nanny I was a substitute teacher. I live in Michigan and our economy is horrible, and I am in my 9th year out of school and no full time teaching job. I guess I wasn't that dedicated at looking, but still. My hubby and I have lived in our current home for 4 years. We are gradually fixing it up, it was a foreclosure. God has blessed us in so many ways financially with our home. That is a little about me, personally.

My goals in getting involved in a Christian ladies support group is to have a group of women who are willing to pray for me. I hope to add my input too to those who are struggling. I am sure we can learn from each other. I want to lose around 60-70 pounds to be at a health BMI. I am currently around 218 and hope to get down to 158, for that is my goal weight for now.

I have been able to lose weight before through a program called the Lord's Table on settingcaptivesfree.com. I lost about 10 pounds in 120 days. Then I lost the rest of my weight doing my at home own version of weight watchers. That was in 2006-2007. I went from weighing around 170 to 149. My weight was a struggle then as it is now, but different in a ways.

Now I am at 218 because of some choices of my own (like being addicted to regular coke) but also because of being on a medication that made me gain at least 40 pounds. Not fun. I have a chemical imbalance and sometimes those medications are so harsh and make someone gain so much weight. After going to see a specialist in California, he told me that if I didn't lose at least 50 pounds, in 5 years I could be diabetic. It hasn't happened yet, but I feel like this needs to be the year that I lose my weight.

I am looking to make some new friends on here and would love them to be sisters in Christ. I have a sweet spirit and I love encouraging others. I love journaling and trying to look at things with new perspectives. I enjoy kniting and spending time with my family and loved ones. I play my clarinet in our church' orchestra as well.

Please add me as your friend if you can relate to me or want to be my friend. I would love that.

I am praying and looking for two or three sisters (soul sista's  ) who I can become close friends with and be accountable to. And I would love to meet many new friends and encouragers on here.

Take care and have a great day/afternoon.

I know I'll need to watch my eating at the Superbowl party with my hubby and inlaws.

Take care and cheers for another day of healthy eating.

Prayers and hugs,

Melissa Shovan

  • Hi Everyone
I am new to myfitnesspal, I wanted to share my journey, it has been long and I have lost a total of 100 lbs well if you add up all times I lost some and gained some it would probably be about 300lbs to be honest, lol

My journey has been a life time of different programs but with Herbalife it has been the one that I have felt the best and healthiest and energetic.

This is the 2nd time around on Herbalife, because last time I had lost the weight but I exercised extremely too much because I worked at a Lady's Workout Express gym and went from 250 to 150 but didn't keep up with my exercise program so I ended up gaining 50lbs back bummer, I lost that 50lbs and gained it a few times so last March 2012 is when I started the program again only because I was on a Daniel Fast for the Lord and committed to eat only vegetables and fruits for a year but needed to add protein into my diet and Praise God I am now back to 150 trying to get to my goal of 145, but the best thing is I was a size 24 and now I am a size 4

It works if you stick to it and the reason why I believe it worked this time is because I truly had GOD'S HELP and when things got hard I would repeat to myself "ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD" "I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME" and I also stopped doing to just to look good but FINALLY did it for health, God specifically spoke to me and said get your physical body healthy, you've worked so hard on your spirit but you need to truly remember that your body is MY TEMPLE and I DWELL THERE, and it had never been easier
I would remind myself this IS NOT A DIET but for GOD, A LIFESTYLE change for my temple or should I say His temple.

    Hi Mrs. Melissa.

I started my weight loss pretty close to your starting weight last year. I weighed 222 July 1 of 2012. Today I am 177 and still trying to lose another 25-40 pounds. (I'm not really sure what my exact goal weight is.)

I'm 27, married 6 1/2 years, no kids yet either. I'll send you a friend request. It definitely helps to have friends for encouragement!

    God bless!
