Hi, my name is Leslie Bittner I've attended LRCC since grade school...so, have known several in this group for a long time. I think that will help me to feel comfortable sharing struggles and frustrations I have in this attempt to be healthier.
My goals:
-replace the meals my family loves like meatloaf, chicken n noodles, lasagna, pizza etc..... with healthier recipes we can still enjoy
-use my YMCA membership
-manage my mornings in order to fix a healthy smoothie everyday
-consistently count calories without letting food take my focus away from loving and serving my family
-lose 2 lbs weekly
-to communicate encouragement and ideas with others in our group...i tend to be a little private and quiet so sometimes that is
difficult for me
I have previously used another site to log my food and so am just learning my way around MFP. It seems like it would be helpful to see "friends" or anyones daily logs ...just to get good ideas for food choices. Is that possible on this site? Is there a specific place to share recipes? I need to play around with the features a little more. Thx! Leslie0 -
My goals are to intentionally be more physically fit - I have sat on the bench too long... I know when my body is at a certain weight for my height, I feel better, look better, have more endurance. I want to be able to keep up with my grandchildren coming in the spring & summer and the preschoolers I teach at church.
Here is my basic outline of how I am going to do it:
- set timer daily & excercise & then increase time & intensity
- find a partner to walk with (I have dogs that will go if I can not find a person)
- keep track using this app of what I eat
- eat out less
- cut down on proportions
- no eating after 8 pm!
- be preparred: have healthy food to grab & even chocolate kisses stashed high out of reach for the weak moment/ max 1 per day
I will do my best to encourage others in this group to reach their goals!0 -
My goal is to learn to run but I know I need to start walking first. My husband used to run and I feel like he stopped because of me. I love to swim and joined the White river club and hope that I can use it. My first step. I like this app for tracking my calories and need to use it. I gave up pop and am cutting the calories to 1400 calories. I have lost 15 lbs so far. I need healthy dinner recipes. I don't plan meals so we eat out often. BAD i know. I am praying that I can be strong and continue on my goal for this year. I would like to lose 50 pounds this year EVEN THOUGH I NEED TO LOSE MORE. I lost 15 so for so 35 more to go for now. I hope I will lose more than that. I have read just about every diet book there is so I am somewhat confused. On my dresser is two stacks of diet books and they are so high so that I don't have to look at myself anymore. They are not really helping. I am not giving up and know that i need encouragement from others. Love you all at LRCC!!!!!0

Those books CAN help you. Place them in a back pack, then wear the back pack when you are taking a walk.0

I didn't follow the rules and introduce myself first.
I’m Shawn Arteritano. My goals are …
• Blast away the belly fat.
• Make better, healthier food choices. (This way there isn’t any thought, it’s natural)
• Be a good healthy example for my children.
• Increased energy level, so that as my kids grow I can keep up.
• Healthier, more positive attitude.

Here's where I am as of today.
1. I am now running / jogging at 6 mph (10 min. mile) on a treadmill for 20 minutes. (2 Miles)
2. I have been working on this for the last month, and now I have stretched enough that I can now touch my toes with my knees locked and hold it for over a minute. (This is increasing my flexibility.)
3. I have noticed a slight increase in my energy level.
Thank you for holding me accountable!0
