losing but I look the same

OkayI have lost 8 pounds, I know it's not a huge number but it is better than the nothing I was doing before joining MFP. I have been working out and the whole deal as well. I just don't see it anywhere at all, when did you all start seeing your efforts?

Honestly, at our size (with over 100 pounds to lose), I don't think we will notice much very fast. (Unfortunately). Be sure to take pictures and measure. At 15 pounds, I am starting to see a difference in my before/after pictures, and a couple of inches in the my waist. But I don't see a difference when I look in the mirror or in my clothes.

I am 12 pounds down since I started tracking on here, 16.8 total since I started just before the end of 2012. I tried on clothes today, jeans and pants in particular and could fit in ones that I hadn't been able to before. When I had lost a bunch of weight before it would take a 20 pound loss to go down a size. I noticed the other night that my legs and butt were starting to "change some.

Keep up the work!! Changes take time. As they say, we didn't gain it all overnight, and you didn't notice the weight coming on pound by pound.

    Good Luck!!

I'm down 12lbs and I'm starting to notice my clothes fitting a little loser but other than that, no noticeable changes yet.

I am 43 pounds down. My clothes size has gone down, but I still don't "see" a difference when I look at me. Are you noticing any changes in how your clothes fit?

I've lost 16.5 lbs and other than noticing a little less puffyness in my face, I don't really notice in my appreance... but my clothes ar eloser for sure! and I was able to comfortable put on a pair of jeans that haven't been comfortable for several months so I know somethign is happening... it will take time and a significant amount of lbs lost to really see a difference... sad to say a guy I work with lost like 60 lbs, he is quite large, and unless you see a before/after pic side by side you could wouldn't really notice.

On a separate note, having your image of yourself in your mind catch up will take even longer... I have previously lost 128 lbs and was down to a size 6/8 ...I still thought I was very over weight and my self image never caught up with my exterior image... not sure how to fix that one, but I think it is the main reason I gained all the weight back... I still saw myself as fat...

I've lost 22 pounds and the only thing that I've noticed is that my butt is firmer. :) I have a friend who lost almost fifty and I didn't notice at all. Of course, I could be particularly unobservant. Right now, I'm just trying to concentrate in the changes in how I feel and hopefully that will carry me through until I can see the changes.

I've only lost 13lbs myself so I'm not that far ahead of you - I've only just this week noticed that a couple of my shirts are a little looser, and my face is a little slimmer (hooray, I hate how fat my face is more than anything!). Mostly though I just feel so much healthier and have a lot more energy, which is a reward in itself - don't lose heart, it will start to happen soon.
  • Im back at this again and ready to go on to lose 100+ but I have already lost 100 although I have gained back about 25...ugg! I cant say that I noticed a big difference until around the 35-40 pound mark. I also wore all the same clothes still. Oh how I just thought Id shrink a clothing size every week, NOPE! LOL

Just keep at it and you'll see it, or others will. It's really strange though that I am down about 4 sizes now in clothes, I don't feel smaller most of the time. I still have the fat mentality I think and it's what I let sabotage me. DONT be discouraged!!!

I've lost almost 17 lbs and I still don't really see the difference.. I'm thinking I lost it in my boobs and butt :(
Before MFP when I sat down I felt like my stomach came out way more than my chest, but now it's not really like that, even though I still think my chest is shrinking. In my opinion it's more noticeable when you lose inches then pounds, so I really need to start measuring the inches. Until I'm in a smaller size, I don't think I'll notice a difference.... now the question is... how many pounds until I'm in a smaller size?!? lol

I'm at the same weight loss as you (8 pounds) and I don't really see a difference. I'm just focusing right now on small goals, like I want to hit the 10 pound mark next week and go from there.

Gosh, I sure hope that at 15 pounds I can fit back into some of the things I thought was too tight....I have some things in my closet that I'd just be happy to fit into or look half decent in at this point.

Keep up the good work and strive for smaller goals....

I honestly did not really start to see the change in my weight till my first 15 pounds. Here is a trick that I like to use so that I can celebrate the small victories. You will need to take your measurements and monitor the inches that you are losing as well as the weight. At times we lose weight and it may not visibly show as a large amount, but when you track your measurements it makes a difference.

Also, try not to weigh yourself very often. Every two weeks or maybe even once a month is better. Weigh yourself the same time everytime preferably in the morning.
  • I'm down a total of 21lbs. 10 since I started tracking on here and the one thing I noticed.....today after my shower actually, was how tone my legs are. After eight weeks of doing Zumba five times a week they are looking pretty good. But, my legs aren't my problem. My upper body is where I carry all of my excess weight. My jeans are fitting looser and my tops are too. But, I haven't noticed any difference when I look in the mirror. I feel better due to the exercise and that is a HUGE thing for me. I sleep better and I'm not as tired throughout the day. But I don't look smaller and I haven't even had anyone say anything to me about my weightloss. So.....I know it will come with time and more loss. I've been this overweight for 11 years. I know it's going to take some time. Just keep hanging in there. You will get there and it will have been worth every bit of the struggle. GOOD LUCK!!!

I'm in the same boat. I've been at this for 51 days today, I am down a little over 9 pounds and I feel great. I feel like I could conquer the world right now. But last night when I did my weekly weigh in, I was UP .2 pounds. I know that doesn't sound like much, but I've been working my butt off!! I took a 30 day picture last night and when I put the 2 side by side I didn't really notice much of a change and honestly, it is very discouraging to me. My husband said he can see a difference especially in my face, but I just don't know. I carry most of my weight in my stomach and thighs and I felt like they were going down until I saw the picture. I mean, come on, I can't have lost 9 pounds in just my face  I just have to try and keep going, setting small goals and once I reach them, set another one. I can tell a little difference in some of my clothes, but I feel like I'm not losing as fast as other people and that is really hard for me. Good luck to all on your journeys and I can't wait to see all your progress!!
