I have just found your group and joined I thought sharing my story may help others
I am 45 and was diagnosed with PCOS when 29. In that time I have had 2 DC's, a hysteroscopy and a ablation. A lil over 6 years ago i weighed 173.1 kilos (380 pounds) and now I weigh 91.9 kilos (202 pounds) I wanted to share what i did WHEN successful (I have not adhered to this as much over the last year and struggled to lose weight so am going back to it)
I started eating 1800 calories and now eat 1400 calories a day. I calorie cycle which means currently my cals average out to 1400 cals but I have high and low cal days. I usually do the high days on my highest exercise days, a example of my current calorie cycle is as below
monday : 1200
tuesday : 1300
wednesday : 1200
thursday : 1600
friday : 1200
saturday : 1800 (weigh in day)
sunday : 1500
I also have a low calorie day the day before weigh in and weigh in day is my highest calorie day. Food wise I have no more then 4 grain serves a day (usually 2 weetbix/bowl of cereal and 2 slices of bread at lunch....saturday which is my high calorie day is the only day I will eat grains at night)...I restrict processed cheese and only eat cottage or feta cheese (full fat). Eat 1-2 pieces of fruit per day all my other foods are unprocessed (altho i do drink diet coke its the only thing i havent managed to fully cut out yet)
Exercise wise I exercise 4-6 days a week (altho i currently have a broken wrist so cannot do that much at the moment) I predominantly do cardio and also 1-3 weight sessions a week. I do a lot of les mills classes....and also a lot of stair climbing, treadmill, xtrainer work) I also try and ensure I do body balance once a week (I feel its good for me mentally)
Anyway pardon my rambling - I thought this may help some others, also if anyone wants to add me as a friend feel free
Also I dont take metfomin and never tried to get pregnant. My cycle is now every 28-30 days. I still have facial hair,,,but my cycle is better....acne pretty much all gone.

Thank you so much for sharing! I always feel so down about PCOS and it really helps to see someone fight it with sheer force. I don't take metformin either (just cannot stomach it at all) and doctors treat me like that's the only option. You are amazing! Just stunning!0

Thanks so much for sharing your story with all of us! I don't want to end up taking metformin just because I am on enough medication as it is! Congratulations on your story and on your weight loss!0
