...... activities have helped you to lose weight and/or get into shape? I'm just curious as to what has been the most successful activity that helps with weight loss and toning.

I only seem to lose weight when I'm sick, so can't help you there!
Toning-wise, my legs are in great shape because I do a lot of walking/hiking, and spend a lot of time in the saddle of either a horse or a bicycle. The rest of me is flabby because I can't put a lot of weight on my right arm, so most upper-body stuff is out.0 -
I've had good results with the Jillian Michaels home workout DVD's. So far I've done 30 DS, 6 Week 6 Pack and has recently started Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. I sometimes alternate between the 3, depending on how much time I have to workout. I really find it difficult to fit in a workout, do a full time job, work with and care for my 3 horses and do chores at home. If I work out every day, it seems I don't have enough energy or time to work my horses. But the workouts really help to get my muscles toned and in good shape which in turn help to be a more effective rider. It does help to look carefully at what goes into your mouth, but I'm not that diligent. I just cannot say no to a chocolate or any other sweet thing!!0

I'm not sure what works best for me yet since I just started this journey recently. I know when I had lost weight in the past, walking was my biggest exercise and it helped me tone up my legs, butt and abdomen. I used hand weights to help tone my upper body. I'm trying different things now and trying not to do the same thing everyday.... that way my body doesn't seem like it's stuck in a rut with the same routine.0

As a non-runner, I decided in a rash moment last August to enter a half marathon. I needed an incentive to exercise because I don't enjoy it. This has involved running 3 times a week since September. The HM is now just over 3 weeks away and the training has helped me lose several pounds, but more specifically to help me tone up, especially my legs. I also use 2 1/2 lb dumbbells afterwards because I don't want my arms to feel left out. I definitely wouldn't have done this if I hadn't set myself the HM challenge.0

Whoa! I must have missed this. Good Luck! and my hat off to you.
I normally love hiking for an hour, up and down hills with my pup Annie. I thought that would be a great morning thing to do. But unfortunately it totally aggregated an Achilles tendonitis that I have struggled with since last summer. So I guess it's back to the gym. and see a physio for the Achilles so,I can get rid of it.
Cardio- bike, elliptical, rowing. Also hacking out, posting trot or two point trot for long periods.
Weights - free and machines. Working the big muscles has a total body effect.
Pool- kick board, run around with flotation belt, all types of movement, swimming with snorkel. My whole body feels better. Full range of movement is nice for joints.
What Waist - barn sweeping, outside raking0
