Did you know that ketchup has 16 calories of added sugar per tablespoon?

Where else are there calories lurking?

Everywhere! Sodium and Sugar. That's why it's a great idea to add those items to your MFP nutrient list so you see it every meal. Thanks for the post!

I'm just getting caught up on your old posts. Did you know that Heinz makes a "Reduced Sugar" ketchup with only 5 calories and 1g of sugar per TBSP? Tastes just like the real stuff..... but, of course, they never put it on sale! They also make a Low Sodium version...
My new Happy Hour snack is boiled shrimp with cocktail sauce, made with the SF Ketchup and Extra Hot Horseradish....... a real treat for hardly any calories/fat/carbs (although not exactly low sodium).

My question would be: what do they add to replace the sugar?

They use Sucralose.... as per the following. My husband is diabetic, so we keep items made with Splenda in our pantry...

INGREDIENTS: TOMATO CONCENTRATE FROM RED RIPE TOMATOES, DISTILLED VINEGAR, SALT, NATURAL FLAVORING, ONION POWDER, **SUCRALOSE, SPICE.
    **NOT IN REGULAR KETCHUP

    KOSHER PAREVE
    GLUTEN-FREE

Better than I expected! Thanks. I wondered, because we KNOW when they started making low fat foods, they started adding more frankensugars. I was worried then if they made low sugar varieties by adding some bizarre substances...
