Squat form (again)

So I had a friend video of my lifts this weekend to check my form, which was really helpful. Everything was better than I thought, EXCEPT my squats. I thought they were aok, but I am not going as low as it feels like and I am not hitting parallel. I was currently at 55kg (121lbs). Should I now drop down to a lower weight (say 40kg) until I manage to get myself consistently hitting parallel before working my way back up again?

As far as I understand, that sounds about right. You need to get parallel, and if you can't at the weight your at, you need to reduce.

Small correction, but ideally you'd want to be getting just past parallel (at the very least) so you can transfer the stress from your knees to your hips. If you're brave enough to post your videos on here I'm sure we'd be more than happy to help you fix other issues that are leading to your shallow squats. One thing I did when I first started was practice with a swiffer/broom handle when I had a few minutes at home.
