I, too, loved her spirit. I think when someone said at the beginning of the book .."being.single is a life" She epitomized this beautifully. I liked the way the author described the way she crafted shoes. The family was quite dynamic. Her descriptions of NYC and Italy was really good. I still remember lining up to see the windows on Fifth Avenue at Christmas. I plan to read Brava Valentine to see what happens to her and Gram. At the moment, I have stacked on my nightstand, I have books by the following authors Laurie R. King, (and the latest)> Maeve Benchy and Tracy Chevalier. And Brava...

I have not read Robin Cook and would like to give it a try.

That's really great that you've seen the Christmas windows in person. I never have, but would like to someday. Being single (actually I'm divorced, but I was only married for 7 years, so I really do feel like I'm single), I appreciate the sentiment that being single is a life.

The Robin Cook books available in my library are: Abduction, Critical, chromosome 6 and Sphinx. Does only of those appeal to you? If you have a different title in mind, I'm sure I can find it somewhere.

And, I've reserved Brava Valentine so I'll be reading that, too. I never read one book at a time.

All the books you mentioned are in my library system. Wow this fellow has written a stack of books. Can we decide and wait until March to begin? I thought Critical seemed kind of interesting.

The problem with ordering new library books is never knowing when they will arrive. The reason for so many books on my night stand.

Let me know when you begin Brava Valentine...we can touch base about that, too. Apparently, a third book in the series is going to be released next year.

I may have already read Critical but I am not sure I can look into it. I want to read Brava Valentine too because I didnt want the story to end like that. I wouldve wanted a fairytale ending with her getting married and having kids or something. I havent read any of Robin Cooks books for the past couple of years. I think he has one from 2011 .

Maybe we should just read Brava Valentine for March and then wait on the Robin Cooks novels? Since we are in agreement about this?

I'm fine with that idea, too. I'm leaving it up to you (because the January book was my pick).

I'll be starting Brava Valentine today. Do you think she pronounces her name the same as St. Valentine's day, or would she pronounce it like Valenteen, which is the way I would pronounce it if there was an 'a' on the end - Valentina, like her father calls her. Or maybe both ways?

I would say Valent I ne but dont know what the author intends. Started the book and have already read about 50 pages. I am interested in Ms Valentine's adventures now. At first the long detailed descriptions and slow walk to drama were not my style but I have grown to like the character and am rooting for her success in all ways, romance, work etc.

I started reading book. Wanted to see Valentine's future play out. Liking it better than the first book. The Wedding- Can you believe Aunt Feen and the hysterical ending to the night with Gianluca or as Gabriel calls him John-Lucky. And now she is "stuck" with Alfred.

I think it might be pronounced ,Valenteen, also. Hey, we might be finished by March.

A local author Laurie R. King is appearing Tuesday night. Going with some friends...kind of excited. I have not read her books yet but It is always fun to see authors.

I am there and think besides June , the roommate may be one of the smartest people in Valentine's life. Interested what you two think.

Yes Gian luca 's letter is something. Looks like a more dependable guy than Roman.

I'm still at the wedding, actually, they just arrived at the restaurant for the reception. I hope to catch up with you today. The first thing I noticed is the start of the book involves a wedding. I wonder who will get married at the beginning of the third book???

    Hi Reading Buddies,

I have finished the book. I thought it was fun, fast paced and had lots of twists and turns. I am probably going to be offline for a few days as I have some computer issues that need correcting. So I will check in after the weekend and we can compare Brava Valentine.

(P.S. Have either of you read Molak'i by Alan Brennert. I just picked it up at the used bookstore and wondered if you had read it)

I haven't read Molak'i but it sounds intriguing. I once rode a mule down the edge of a steep mountain to view the leper colony.

I am catching up on all the library books that came all at once. When every one is finished we can chat and pick the next monthly challenge.

Mabug that experience sounds great. Molakai is one of the islands I have not visited. I think when it is my turn after lenoresaari and you I will recommend it.

Hope u are both doing well and having some good weather.

You are 'FLYING INTO" a pivotal chapter . (heh, heh) Glad we all agree to continue. I do belong to a book club but this is fun to be able to read a book at your own pace and have a couple of mfpals to talk about it.

I finished the book! I was a bit disappointed in Valentine's maturity level in this book, but then I was reminded that she was only in her mid-thirties. I have to say, although Gianluca seems like a great guy, I just don't see how he can be right for Valentine. Anyone else think that? Any ideas for April?
