What's everyone up to?

It's March now and some of us are going to start getting nice days on a more regular basis, so I just wondered if anyone wanted to shoot the breeze here about riding or losing weight or anything else under the sun.
I have a Heritage Springer (two pix in my profile) that we are doing some work on. I bought this bike last year and have been buying parts for it slowly over the year and now I'm trying to get them on and have it all set up for a two week ride in June. It had Vance & Hines long shots on it but the stacked pipes were too close to my bag and it was damaging the leather. The bags on my bike are expensive and obsolete so I want to keep them in good shape. So I decided to go back to what was stock for a Heritage Springer -- dual fishtails. I got a good deal on Samson true duals (but they're still expensive, cripes) and they came in a couple of weeks ago.
Two weeks ago the weather was nice in Denver and we got my bike in to get them put on.
After we got the bike in the shop it snowed 8 inches here :grumble: But then it got really warm over the weekend and my boyfriend was able to get the bike back home on Saturday (I was in Albuquerque over the weekend).
Soooo a long story but here is the point. After I got home on Sunday I got to go out and see the pipes and start it up and hear them -- freaking awesome!! :smokin: I'm calling them my mini-chollos because they come about 3 inches past my rear fender. I got them a bit long like that so that I could put hard bags on when we do a long ride. We have some old police bags that will just bolt on to the existing setup. Those will be a lot better than the pretty fringed bags -- they look nice but you have to unbuckle and buckle three straps every time and they don't hold nearly as much as they look like they will hold!!
The boyfriend doesn't like chollos but I think these look pretty awesome just coming a little bit past the fender. I'll try to get pix up sometime.
The bad thing was that I couldn't take it out for a putt -- I had a lot of stuff to take care of. My old man left yesterday morning to go to Daytona Bike Week -- anyone else going?

Good morning Elaine. We just had our coldest snap of the year this past week, waking up to temps in the 30s and having afternoons in the 40s. That's pretty cold for the gulf coast. Didn't stop me, I put on the leather chaps and rode to work last Wed, Thu and Fri.
Good news is that Friday, (Non-Scale Victory - NSV) I tried on my leather jacket and for the first time in a LONG while, I could fit into it and even zip it up. Losing another 10-15 lbs, it will just fit better.
This weekend, I added a luggage rack to my ride. And for weekend cruising, poker runs, etc., I got a new 6 inch windshield. I'll keep the standard/full size windshield for city freeways and interstate traveling...

AWESOME job!! I think everyone here is trying to get back into their leather, right? I know I sure am.This weekend, I added a luggage rack to my ride. I think the short windshield looks kick-*kitten*. I don't run a windshield unless I'm on a road trip, but on your bike, it's perfect.

Just a matter of time for us here in RI. Temp hasn't been so bad, high 30's-40's so not terrible, but so much sand on the roads. Hopefully they get the street sweepers out there with a quickness this year.
Spent the last couple weeks getting ready though. Took off my ugly *kitten* silver bullet taillights and went with the below fender led strip that really cleaned up the *kitten* end of the bike. Discovered a few wiring issues that needed to be cleaned up, changed fron and read pads and oil change, some new mirrors and a few minor tweaks and I am good to roll now!0 -
Did a Kentucky Run a couple weeks ago. Nothing lately - my Biker Bible study group, has an upcoming bike blessing at the end of the month. Really haven't planned out the rest of March yet.0

I need to find a bike blessing before I start my rides this Spring. Be safe out there.0 -

Wow Bigpelly, first I have to say, congratulations on your weight loss, wow! Sand is always an issue here, too. Glad you're ready!Did a Kentucky Run a couple weeks ago. We belong to a HOG chapter and the first event is always St Patty's day. March 17th is touch and go here, it can get snowed out or it can be 70 degrees, but that's when we start having at least a consistent shot at warmer temps.
Bike blessings are fun, we have one here in April that one of the ABATE chapters puts on.
It's in the 60's here today. :drinker: On Saturday we are supposed to get 7-12 inches of snow. :grumble: Oh well.0 -
Me? Maintenance time. New x-ring chain, front sprocket, and timing belts have arrived. Now I just need it to get a little warmer so I don't freeze while working in the garage.
