Pulled muscle or just tight???

So yesterday was OHP day for me. Yeah I sucked, but I can only get better from here, right?

Anywho, woke up this morning with a tightness in my left shoulder just at the base of my neck, right where the curve starts. Not really a pain, more of a catch but bigger than a kink, just feels like it is gonna pop if I turn my head a certain way or drop my shoulder. It's more irritating than anything. I used some Bio-freeze and have been doing some light trapezius stretches. It's not as bad as when I woke up because I'm now getting a greater range of motion. No spasms or anything like that. It doesn't feel like any pulled muscle I have ever had, it's just really tight. I dont know if I did something while lifting, or just slept wrong. Suggestions?

Usually when I wake up like this it's because I had some kind of muscle cramp int he middle of the night. My neck tends to do that a lot for some reason. I would put a hot compress on it and keep stretching it and just watch the way it feels. Should feel better by the end of the day.

I felt like that yesterday when I woke up, too. Got much better as the day went on. I woke up with my pillows all screwed up, tho, so I think that's what mine was.

I'll admit...it stressed me a little bit. I thought, "OMG, what if I HURT myself????"
  • This will tend to happen if you move your head during a lift. A good therapy for this is neck rolls or you can even use a foam roller.
