Well last month found out i had pcos and kind of hard to deal with. Well its very hard. From the difficulty to lose weight to the facial hair idk ive changed my diet to mostly fruits and veggies and whole grains. Since then i did notice my clothes fitting looser but scale says i lost 1 lbs -_- that part doesn't really bother me because it does take time. Does anyone have any advice on what i should do or look into? In the process of changing my DR because she wasn't taking her time to explain what is going on with my body. And basically told me i wasnt "smart" about researching pcos online smh so chances are i have to wait like 3-6 months for my next dr app. ..besides the point are there any natural sucess stories that anyone has experienced?

I was also diagnosed with PCOS just last month. I have been trying to eat clean, Do you get enough protien? I eat Eggs, veggetables and Fruits I try to eat at least 3 servings of vegetables to every serving of Fruit, and I eat meat, lots of chicken, some pork, some fish, even lamb, and then my grains come from Quinoa, Whole Wheat Couscous, and farro. Are you on any medication?

Sorry you had to join our club...it is not a fun one ...yes - it is hard to deal with but it is something that each one of us can overcome!! Def get a doctor that knows about PCOS and is willing to try natural remedies if that is something you are interested in!!! And you will def want to study up on it also - that way when a doctor tries to tell you something you will have the right questions to ask and the knowledge to say yes or no to them!!! We each have our own type of success stories - mine hasn't been weight loss related - mine has been able to have strong healthy kids...now I am working on the weight loss . As far as medications - metformin is a popular one, birth control has helped people become regular...I personally try to go the natural route - food is a major issue...eating clean whole natural (organic when possible) foods is always good - meaning that if it has a barcode it probably isn't the greatest...and if it does have a barcode - make sure you can read and understand all the ingredients!!...a lot of women on here have found that eating fewer carbs has helped - especially non complex carbs (like bread, pasta, and flour)...some have even gone to the Paleo diet...it's all up to you and trying things out...stop eating something and see if it helps your body/weight...if it doesn't then add it back in...but make sure you are still eating enough!!...as far as natural medications...some have mentioned cinnamon...there is a certain type that you can have to make a form of tea...I am doing iodine...there have been studies that show it helps thyroid and dealing with insulin...but I have a doctor that is prescribing it to me...knowledge is power - the more you know and research - the more you will have a better idea of what you would like to do and put in your body!! well i hardly eat meat i get my little bit of protein from eggs, almonds and sunflower seed butter. Well i did switch everything over to whole wheat and i am incorporating more veggies and fruits and nuts into my diet. Its crazy because i went from only having one meal a day because my excuse was "im busy, dont have time to cook" to now getting into a routine to eating all of the time and cooking ALL of my meals i have been doing this for 2/3 weeks but i will try to add chicken and fish more into my diet. I have been taken biotin because my hair was falling out it helped the hair fall out so far.i am not on any prescribed meds i want to try metformin but my dr was not hearing me when i asked about it. Are you taking any medications ? and also do you know if I should be getting a DR that specializes is PCOS? How has eating clean worked for you so far?0 -

Hey so if you are looking into ways to get protein...I was raised vegetarian and have to work really hard on making sure I get enough protein - eggs are great for omelets and stuff - just make sure you are doing mostly egg whites (like one normal egg and 3 egg whites)...it taste the exact same but you get ride of the empty calories and all the bad stuff...low fat cottage cheese is also a great protein for me (I get 2%)...grilled chicken and fish are fantastic if you can incorporate some meat...there are also a lot of great clean protein powders that you can cook with to make things like cinnamon bread or homemade protein bars...tofu and soy can be a source of protein for some - I honestly like it a lot but I have stopped eating it for the most part because of how processed it is...anyways - just some thoughts for you...also if you need any inspiration from someone famous - Jillian Micheals from Biggest Loser has PCOS...she is a big advocate for clean eating...0

It sounds like you are on the right track as far as clean eating and (in my opinion) getting a new doctor if you feel yours isn't taking your concerns seriously. I don't know if you saw a specialist, but endocrinologists seem to have a better understanding of PCOS and are more willing to try medications if you need them. I have tried to control my symptoms with and without medication, and mine are severe enough that I need it. Everyone's different - my sister has PCOS, but while we both take birth control and spirnolactone she doesn't need the insulin sensitizer. Since uncontrolled PCOS can potentially do so much damage to your body and your ability to have children, if you want them, it's important to be comfortable with your doctor and be in control of your own health.
As far as my diet goes, I eat clean and somewhat low carb (I aim for less than 150g a day) but focus mostly on staying away from added sugar. The less processed food I eat, the better I feel.
There are two other things I wish someone had told me when I first started to try and lose weight with PCOS (which was many years and who knows how many different diets ago). The first is that diet is only part of the equation - I've learned that I cannot lose weight or inches without exercising. The second is that you can't just focus on the number on the scale. It's easy for anyone to get discouraged when the weight comes off slowly, and it seems to move even slower for us. Keep tracking your food and exercise, and pay attention to how much better you feel and how you look in your clothes. The scale will eventually catch up.0 -
First and foremost, I definitely feel for you. When I was first diagnosed I felt so depressed that I just could not think about anything regarding my health or anything. I am very impressed with how you are handling everything.
Just like everyone else, I am on a low carb diet.
