How would you handle this situation

I'm getting together with church ladies Saturday. We are all bringing cookies, like a cookie exchange, plus we are doing snack type foods. I have no idea how to count for it. I do know that when we usually do this, it becomes my breakfast and lunch meal. I'm just really nervous about it.

    Hm, these are my ideas:

Could you pre-look up some cookies that might be there? So you know which ones might be less calorie-dense.
Make sure you bring one that is less calorie dense so you know you have at least one "safe" one.
Eat light the night before. I love a big spinach salad with rotisserie chicken breast (no skin) on top. Just skip the croutons and cheese. :) Use dressing sparingly or have it on the side and lightly dip each bite. You'd be surprised at how little you need.
Have a good time while you're there. Don't fret, but don't go crazy either.
    Eat light again that night.

This is life. There are going to be those days. So we do the best we can: plan for it, work it into your calorie goals.

Thanks! That is an excellent idea. Sometimes it just feels so overwhelming. I need to keep at this though. I'm tired of feeling out of control with my food. I mean, the easiest thing would be just to eat and not worry about counting, etc., but once I do that, I tend to lose my discipline easier. I have to remember it is about the fellowship, not the food. Oh, I hate that I love food so much.

I feel like I had to say this out loud though, I guess so I feel like others are watching me and can help me along. I also need to remember that sugar leads on to more cravings, so if I keep the cookies to a minimum, I can fight the urge to binge during and afterwards.

I am also bringing chicken salad, although not fat free, I'm making it "light".
