Do you monitor weekly gain?

Do you monitor your weekly weight gain? I haven't gained in the last 2 weeks (I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow) and I'm wondering if I should up my calories- I'm already set at 300 above (what I believe to be) maintenance. My pre-pregnancy BMI was 20. I've been at the minimum gain for my pre-pregnancy weight and now that I haven't gained in a few weeks I am below my target gain. Am I over thinking this? Should I wait until my next dr appt and ask her about it? We haven't discussed weight gain at all so far. Do you try to stay on target by each week or just in your pregnancy as a whole?

At my first appointment I asked my doctor about weight gain and she assumed I'd gain 35-40lbs. I honestly don't want to gain that much at all, but I don't track it myself, otherwise I'll obsess over it. She also told me that most people gain in steps, where you may go a few weeks without it, and then all of the sudden gain 5 lbs. I have my calories set to maintenance and eat back my exercise cals. If I'm super hungry then I'll use the extra 200-300 extra pregnancy calories. If you're concerned, then definitely bring it up at your next appointment! If your doctor hasn't mentioned it, they really may not be concerned at all.

The same thing happened to me! But I would just eat a little more when you feel hungry and it will probably balance itself out. I am doing pretty much what you are doing...I started off with a BMI of 20 and am eating back my exercise calories and I have it set to eat 300 extra. I went about 3 weeks without gaining a pound.....so I was kind of concerned and I upped my calories for a week (the 300 plus another 150-200). I figured it was necessary since I felt super hungry and hadn't gone up enough....then a week later I weighed again and had gone up 3 pounds, which makes 3 pounds in 4 weeks since my last appointment which is closer to where I needed to be. I'm shooting for 25 as well but it can become stressful to be constantly checking....I try to check once in between appointments to see where I am. I think if you just keep doing what you've been doing, and eat a little more on those days when you feel really hungry, you won't have to monitor yourself as much and it will be less stressful. Especially since your BMI was on the low end of normal and you are active, you might need a little extra going into the third trimester.

I am! I'm convinced the train wreck that was my first pregnancy (massive weight gain) was due to ignoring the scales. I weighed half heartedly after 20 weeks and that is when I started packing on the weight. The midwives here never weigh you so that tells me how and when I gain weight isn't as crucial as we think it is. If you are feeling plenty of movement and everything looks good on the scans/ultrasounds I really wouldn't worry. Eat more if you feel hungry but don't force yourself to eat more calories because you haven't gained for a week or two. At 19 weeks I've only gained a pound, and to be honest I feel tempted to eat over my calories to put on weight because I feel like I should be. But then I remind myself the weight gain will even out in the end. I still have 20 weeks to put on plenty of weight and I'm sure I will! I also agree that the weight tends to come on a few pounds at a time and then hold for a week or two. Definately ask your doctor if you are worried, but I don't think you need to be. Also weight gain peaks between 22-28 weeks (I think) so you may be coming into that time now and will catch up.

Hi, I weigh every week, mostly on Friday mornings.
I googled weight gain during pregnancy calculater and went on to this site:
    http://www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html

It gives a basic guideline of what you should gain. Mine has been very spot on with the ranges they give. I'm just on maintenance calories but will increase from week 20. Im at 16 weeks now.

I know everyone gains differently and there are tons of factors working in on weight gain, but I like having this schedule to go by to gauge my gain. All the best for you ladies!

I actually still weight myself daily. I gained 40 with my son and I don't want to do that again. When I weight myself daily I find that it keeps me in check and makes me think about my food choices, which is great for me and the baby. I eat when I am hungry even if I am over my calories but make sure it is a fruit or a veggie. I am 11 weeks and as of this am I haven't gained a pound, which is good because I was slightly overweight when I got prego :)

No but I'm going to start. I just started back on MFP today. I gained too much weight with my first pregnancy and it took me almost a year to get it off. I know I'm not supposed to compare myself to others but I have two friends who were back in their pre-prego jeans after a month and it's because they watched their calorie intake and gained the recommended amount. Of course one of my friends is a fitness nut and hit the gym pretty much right after she had her baby which is a big no-no but she's fine. And fit. I actually hear this has been the case with quite a few women....back at their pre-pregnancy weight after a couple months...or less...because they stayed fit during their pregnancy.

I'm 17 weeks and have gained almost 15 pounds already. So that means I only have 15lbs max to gain during the duration of my pregnancy? Right....like that's going to happen! :)

I'm 20 weeks. I don't measure weekly but I do check in every time I go to my midwifes office. As long as it's reasonable and they're happy, I don't get too worked up.

I had lost 20lbs before the baby (not why I was losing the weight) but it took a lot of time to take that off so I don't want to go crazy. I haven't been tracking calories as well as I was before I got pregnant but I need to get back on track.

I weigh myself weekly, mostly out of curiosity and also out of habit. :) I've noticed that my weight will stay the same a week or two, then go up a couple pounds and stay there another few weeks. I tend to lose weight in the same way, so that's just what I do I guess. This is my 8th baby, started just a little bit overweight and have gained about 11 pounds at 26 weeks. :)
