Hi, congratulations on losing three pounds!! way to go! I'm a quilter, also, and would love to encourage and be encouraged by other quilters. We can do it!0
-
Absolutely, we can do it. Just as we carefully plan our quilts...we can plan our diet and exercise. LOVE to have other quilter friends. So excited to see this group started.0
-
My planning on both quilts and foods is always outsized0
-
I encourage everyone to add friends from the group so you can encourage each other along the way! We've got lots of new members so take a look and add some new friends.0

Bumping this thread for all the newbies that might need MFP friends!0

I would love to keep in touch with others. With cool temps outdoors it is going to be harder to want to go outdoors and exercise. I will need some encouragement now and then.0

I am new on MFP, just been here for about 10 days. I decided to type in quilters in the group search. I was pleasantly surprised to find this group. I would love to have some new friends. I am basically a hand quilter, but do simple projects on the machine. I also make bags, potholders, etc.
I am from Missouri. I've been married for 35 years, mama to 5 grown children and grandma to 5. I love my two kitties and little Pom.
I decided at t he end of September that I needed to quit being a slug and get with it. I lost 10 lbs before I joined MFP. It is coming off slowly, but at least it is coming off. I am also getting much more active daily.
So anyone who wants to can add me as their friend. I'm not sure how to do that just yet. By the way, my name is Winona.0 -
Hi,
You can put me on your friend list. I haven't been checking very often during the last month but need to get back to working out and tracking my calories.0 -

Hi Winona,
I am also a hand quilter. Welcome and would like to have you as a friend. Mady0 -
I could use a few friends here on MFP too. Currently my handheld isn't sycncing with the web page. And for those of you who don't know, I'm Darla & just sent out a few friend requests.
This is the time I need the most encouragement - like right now - cuz between Thanksgiving & Christmas is family time and it's hard to chose not to see your family during this time and that causes me stress & particular stress in eating. AND there's food & goodies galore right now - AND its colder out there!!0 -
Love quilting when I have time. But planning is the key in a beautiful quilt and in losing weight. Would like to have more friends to encourage.0

Hi all, I'm new to the group and would love to have some quilty friends with the same fitness pursuits!0

Just joined this group. I am trying to finish 2 sister quilts at the same time as fitting in workouts and working full time. Add me if you like.:flowerforyou:0

Hi!
I like to quilt and sew almost every day, this is because I have taken over the dining room in our house and permanently have my machine set up!!
I made my first quilt 22 years ago when my friend came to stay with me for the week, we finished our double quilts made from 4 inch squares in one weekend! We overlocked them and didn't put any wadding in but tied the backing in place! Needless to say they have both fallen apart in the last 22 years!!
I still machine patchwork but hand or machine quilt, and still like to get them put together as quickly as possible. At least they don't fall apart now!!0 -
Hi I'm Molly and am re-committing myself to losing a few pounds and keeping them off. I live in Western New York and have been quilting since 2009 and still have so much to learn. You can check out my quilts at my blog www.baileygirl5.blogspot.com. I'd love to get some friends with the same goals .... weight loss and quilting .... to keep me motivated. Please add me!0

Hi All
I'm Vicky and a quilter. I also would like to get healthy.
Both of my parents passed away at a young age and I feel like I could also if I don't start taking care of myself. I also have 2 young children that I want to be able to play with and make lots of great memories with them.
I had to get a new Dr in September and she jumped on my weight. I've never had a Dr take that much issue with my weight. So she scheduled me in to see her nurse, a dietician, and an exercise specialist. And I haven't done much since September. And since I have my 3rd appointment with the dietician tomorrow, I decided on March 1, I should at least try to record my diet in MFP. Both dietician and exercise specialist like MFP.
My last meeting with the exercise specialist didn't go so well. I have a lot of mixed emotions about it. At first I wanted to go to the gym for my exercise and that was where we met in beginning of January. I just couldn't get to the gym. We also went to Cuba for 2 weeks in January so that threw off my schedule before, during and after. A few days before we were scheduled again, I asked the ES to come to my house to show me what I can do here. She gave me 2 different routines to do twice per week. In Feb we were supposed to work my way to 3 times per week. So that disappointed me. Then she wouldn't book our next appointment. She said until I needed to change my routine, we will just leave it the same. This is where my emotions are wacky. On one hand, I'm really disappointed that she doesn't have faith that I will follow through with my workouts and then next hand I'm kind of grateful that she did that as I want to show her she's wrong and I will do it. Again I delayed and made excuses for not working out in February.
Since I didn't want the same kind of reaction from the dietician, and I remembered about the appointment on Feb 28th, I jumped on the bandwagon with recording my food and doing some sort of exercise every day since March 1. I've also tried to notice my inner voice saying "I can't" and change it to "You can but maybe start small"
Finding friends is my next step in striving for success. I feel that the more I'm connected the easier it will be to keep going.
My long term goal is to run a half marathon by my 40th birthday which is just over a year .
Sorry if this was not the place to dump all this.
Would love to make some friends and quilty is a great bonus.

Welcome Vicky!
Small changes consistently done over time work best. Big drastic changes are hard for us to stick with and don't typically last so be careful! Making a habit of logging your food and doing exercise 2-3 times per week is awesome and you will see results if you stick with it.0 -
Welcome Vicky! You've made some great first steps and you're on the right track. That's very important and a big move. Keep going and don't get discouraged because it's a slow process but so worth it. I'm very proud of you for taking charge and making some healthy changes.0

Hi I am also a quilter, at least for the last 5 years. My Grandmother and her Grandmother were quilters, AND my sister has been quilting for about 30 years, so we're getting a lot of information from her. I like to do work with scrap fabrics and have done some good quilt work for Lutheran charities. That is when we were the most productive. I quilt now with a group of six women including my sister up in WI about 7 times a year. We meet at a Holiday Inn conference room, bring our sewing machines and work/talk from 9 am to past midnight. It's like a mini-retreat, but not as expensive. I am interested to know if there are other people out there who are still interested in talking through this MFP Group. We've put out a couple feelers and if you found us - PLEASE FRIEND!!! We can be very supportive from many angles Does the Group still have a moderator?
Our best,
Ann0
