The Pacemaker

I had a problem with my heart a few months ago......it stopped! Definite problem. Now I have a Pacemaker to help me enjoy my golden years! Trouble is, back in September, they told me to do nothing until further notice. No exercise per se, no golf.....nothing. Brilliant .....I put on 20 lbs! Now they've told me to lose the darn weight.......you can't win. So I've started light exercise daily and am control;ling what I eat and when.

Happy to hear the pacemaker is helping you. I haven't had that problem but have had to have a couple of stents put in for clogged up arteries. That was in 2007 and so far so good. I'm eating healthy, Most of the time, but am not a big fan of exercise. I do like walking when the weather permits. Otherwise I have a habit of "overlooking" my exercises. Looks like you're on your way to losing the weight so keep on keepin'on and you'll succeed. My mantra is BE-DO-HAVE.........Be committed, Do what it takes Have what you want.
  • I find the "exercise" part to be critical to the program and will slowly ramp up. If it would darn well and stop snowing I can get on the golf course which will help. My bike exercises I'll be doing twice a day shortly which will double my effort. Fortunately we have an exercise room with a large flat screen TV so it's kinda like going to the gym. Of course it depends on your metabolism! Mine demands the exercise to burn off the weight rather than a straight forward diet....of course you need the time.......or make the time which is probably more to the point.

Yes, I know I need to get my mind set on the exercise aspet. That's part of the"DO" part of my mantra. My neighbor lady has told me about an exercise class at our local community center. she's picking me up Mondy morning so I can check it out. another friend wants me to join the aquatic center where she goes for water exercise. That sounds good too. I may get reved up about this exercising yet! I know it would be good for my old metabolism.
