The last two weeks have been really rough but I've managed to log and finally lost a pound last week. I feel like I'm getting back on track. I think this week will be better. I won't be weighing this week but next week. I'm hoping I can keep from getting discouraged that way. Have a great week everyone!0

I definitely over did it last weekend on St.Patty's day! Having fun outweighed my desire to stick to my calorie goals. That said, I've done great this week so far. Been logging my calories, making good choices, and putting in a solid workout each night! This weekend, I'm going backpacking, so I feel confident that I won't be tempted to splurge too much over the weekend!0

I feel everyone's pain of St. Patty's Day celebrations. But, I've been extra good this week and have been logging my food and exercise. It's been a tough week emotionally for me, as my boss at work just quit and a few other little things. I'm making a conscious effort not to turn to food. Yesterday I took my frustrations out on the treadmill. I ran 4 miles!!! I don't think I've ever been able to do that. Every time I accomplish something new at the gym, I'm amazed and how powerful and strong your mind a body can be. I think realizing that gets you 99% of the way towards having a successful weight loss. I just need to get up with that mindset. Good luck to everyone!! You can do it!!0

I"ve been doing great at tracking everything so far. It's going to be a challening week for me since I'm eating out with friends two nights in a row. I can make healthy choices but when you're with friends it's hard not to want to splurge. I also know that if I do go over on a day or two it's not going to be huge in the scheme of things. I'm working out so it's not like one or two "bad" meals is going to take me back to where I started.
I think my biggest struggle is getitng in enough protein to offset my working out since I'm using weights multiple days a week.0 -
I've also tracked everything this week! yay! Even the bad stuff. So I'm doing good with the challenge. I have really noticed that certain food I eat makes my weight go up 2lbs or so the next day. I really need to focus on what I eat at dinner time.0

I have been tracking my food this week and I exercise 1.5 hrs Mon, Tues 30 min Wed, Thurs. Friday was my off day because I couldn't open my eyes this morning. I too am faced with the same challenge of KRC99080, eating out with friends 3 times this week. The exercise gives me more calories to eat but do I really want to eat them? They confuse me because if I eat them will I still lose weight? I look at that and think it's more for maintaince which is not where I am right now.0

Hey Mocatinho,
i had the same challenge this week I ate out 3 times. adding calories when you work out is fine. You are burning calories all day long so as long as you stay within your calorie count you are good. As a matter of fact if you burn too many calories without eating more your body will go into storage and start storing your food because it is operating on too big of a deficit in calories and feels it needs to store what you are giving it.
Another strategy when eating out. Ask what restaurant you are going to. Check their menus out on the internet and figure out what you will be eating before you go there. Log it so you know exactly what the calorie intake will be. This will ensure a successful dinner for you.
I got caught the other night I went out and had a spinach salad with chicken and fruit not realizing the poppy seed dressing was a killer. It ended up being over 700 calories. I was really annoyed because I thought I was being good. I learned my lesson the next two nights I planned ahead had it all logged in and was fine.
It also puts you in the right state of mind because if you know what you are having you tend not to get side tracked by all the other dishes.
Hope that helps.

I love that advice and it worked for me one night. I ordered healthy and even had room for dessert without going over my calories. Sure dessert isn't healthy but I did stay away from the massively bad for me chocolate dessert and went for the slightly lighter lemon one. Sometimes you just need dessert.
The challenge comes when you are eating at a small local resturant and there is no menu to look at online. I had that my second night so I had no idea what type of food it was going to be. It turned out to be italian and moslty cream sauces so that was a trick, but I finally fond something reasonable. At least my next GNO (girls night out) I already know where we're going so I can plan accordingly.0 -
Glad it worked for you. KRC. The more I do this the more I realize my biggest challenge isn't staying away from food it is organizing myself and positioning myself so healthy food is always in reach. When I keep my life balance dieting is a breeze.
If you fail to plan you plan to fail.
