Adoption

Hey ladies,
I was just thinking about my situation and TTC and adoption. My husband and I has always considered adopting before my issues arose. I just am hesitant about the process. I know it is pricy and some situations can be sketchy. I just don't know where to start. I already thought about fostering, I just don't think my heart could take a child leaving as well as my daughters feelings. My husband wants to adopt an older child any age younger then my daughter.... so that leaves 0-11. I am open but I feel like I want little hands and little toes to kiss.
Where to start....
Social Services... I don't know.... private agency ... not sure
I don't know.......... any thoughts
:ohwell:

This says a lot by itself! You've got baby syndrome
I don't have any experience with adoption, so my advice wouldn't be too helpful, but remember that a good adoption agency should be willing to give you tons of information and help you figure out exactly what you want to do, even if it doesn't mean adopting through them. If you don't get that feeling from an agency, there are plenty of others.
If you want an infant, it should be possible...you may be able to find a baby who is not even born yet. You also have the option of using a surrogate. Just dive in and start asking! One lead will bring you to another, and before you know it you'll have all kinds of options. And yes, I've heard it can be very expensive. But then again, so can being pregnant!0 -
True... having a baby is expensive .... but you don't have to have the money up front all at once.... never the less .... I may have baby syndrome..... maybe not.... my daughter is 11 so .... something to make me say huuuuummmm...... :noway:0

My daughter's best friend was adopted. From Russia.... They are now "closed" to adoptions. You have to consider if you want international or domestic. I hear, through the grapevine, that it is easier to adopt from other countries even though there are so many children in the U.S. needing homes. There are no Orphanages in America... as there are in other countries. If I was going to adopt, I would personally try domestic. You never know what you are getting with other countries. You have to deal with their court systems and they can deny you in a heartbeat....for any reason. I think any choice you make, will be right for you.... and if you do decide, that is one lucky child..... to find a forever home with a loving family is all they can ask for! :-) Good Luck!!0
