Hi everyone!
I'm planning on starting my first whole30 in the next few days...possibly 4/5...and am trying to wrap my head around a few tough spots.
1) I am a vegetarian though I do eat eggs (and currently dairy). I'm following the shopping list here http://whole9life.com/book/ISWF-Vegetarian-Shopping-List.pdf so I do have a few extra protein sources (tofu, edamame, lentils).
2) I'm a nursing mom so I really feel the need to count calories for the first week or two to make sure I'm eating enough for both of us. Baby girl is 6 weeks old and I don't need to do anything to mess up our success in feeding her mama's milkl!
I'm fooling around with the calorie tracker now trying to figure out how to cram 1900-2000 calories in a day (1800 would be ok too I think)...if anyone wants to take a look at today's entry and let me know how it looks that would be great!
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Hey there! I think your diary looks good - if you need to add more calories, perhaps try snacking on some olives or almond butter as tasty, calorie-dense options? I totally get the need to see where you are, calorie-wise, especially with your little one.
One suggestion: Consider removing all of the macro columns from your food diary, so all you are left with is the calorie column. I find that when I see the other columns totals going into the red, I freak out a little and am tempted to stop listening to what my body is asking for, and am more likely to stop trusting the Whole30 guidelines. Just an idea!0 -
That is a good idea! I didn't know I could do that!
I think I'm having another piece of birthday cake tonight and am starting in the morning...will post back when it's official!0 -
I think it will be easy to "cram" the calories in, if you are eating nutrient dense foods. For example:
One small avocado is 250 cals
I make mayo and ranch dip using olive oil and put it on almost everything! It's a good healthy fat.
Fry your eggs in coconut oil.0 -
Two days in and I've been ok getting to my calorie goal--but it seems more to be about 55% fat, 30% carbs, 15% protein. Trying hard to up the protein....yeesh! Today I had 3 eggs, 2 servings of edamame, a bunch of nuts, and a HUGE amount of tofu. Will need to try adding some beans or something tomorrow (I'm on the vegetarian plan so beans are in!).0

When I tracked my last week of my 3rd Whole30 and a few weeks after, I didn't eat more than about 20% protein. I think you are doing great!0
