MFP and Pregnancy

As I prepare to leak news of Baby #2 to the public (MFP friends included), I am wondering, how have you approached pregnancy on MFP? To my knowledge, there exists no Pregnancy Mode. Did you simply announce to your MFP friends list then periodically remind them why you are eating a few hundred extra calories and why your weight is climbing rather than receding? Did "Oh, BTW, I'm pregnant" become the new tagline of your profile? ;) My friends list, while not large, is dominated by women efforting to lose weight, and I feel I will be neither useful nor encouraging to them during this time.

To be honest, I haven't even been logging my weight gain into MFP. I suppose I should but I never really think about it. I use it more to log food and make sure I'm getting the right nutrients, calories, water intake, etc. I can't wait to hear what you decide to do!

I made a sort of general announcement on MFP, and I guess whoever caught it, caught it. I make comments from time to time that would make it obvious to anyone who missed it. I've got a lot of pregnant MFP friends, as well as women who have since had their babies, so they're working on postpartum weight loss already. As for my non-pregnant/non-postpartum MFP friends, I still congratulate them on their losses, workouts, etc. I can still motivate them! I have not logged any gains, though. I removed my ticker so that it doesn't show up in the forum (I'd lost 82 lbs), but my profile still shows the amount lost. When my weight has settled postpartum, I will log that and then start over. Not sure if I want to use it as my new starting weight or use my old starting weight as my starting weight. I'm thinking the latter because I did have to work hard to get down to my pre-pregnancy weight. I still post in the forums because I did have experiences worth sharing during my 82-lb loss. If I need to mention it, I will say that I am currently pregnant and on weight-loss hiatus and ready to get back on the wagon as soon as I am cleared by my doctor.

    Congratulations!!!

Thank you for the tips, fellow mamas, congratulations in return! :) I will probably go the route of general announcement and noting my "condition" in my profile, though I'm not yet decided whether I will continue to log my weight increases along with my daily food intake. If the record-keeper in me has her way, I'll do it. ;)
