Getting the most out of training

I've got a lesson with a dressage instructor tomorrow - far too high-level for me and Jack, I think, but the barn owner suggested I try it... Twice the price of my normal lesson, but it could really be worth it! And it's in a proper indoor arena for a change, not the odd-shaped muddy paddock we usually use.
I'm hoping to go to the barn early, get a 20-minute hack in to settle him, and then load him on the trailer in peace, but I'm still rather nervous. I have a feeling it's just going to be him resisting the leg and me panicking, and the trainer wondering what we're doing coming to her.
So, MFPers, when you get a chance like that, how do you get the most out of it?

Go with the flow. Don't be nervous because Jack can sense when you are.0

Hah, that's the trouble, isn't it? Got back from a ride today and told one of the other girls that he panicked when he saw a truck coming. She said "are you sure it wasn't his rider that panicked"?
But I suppose you're right. Just see what she wants me to do, it might not be all impossible.0
