The dreaded HH

So I have some co-workers in town from out of state and tonight we're doing a big happy hour. I'm not going to lie, I love to drink. I can eat on plan for 30 days no problem, it's the damn wine! Any tips? PS...I hate soda water and tonic water.

I don't know what to tell you. I drink water when I'm on Whole30. When I'm not, it's woodchuck :)

I'm struggling with this, too, but in advance. I fly to the UK in a couple of weeks, and the lady I'll be working with is already talking about how we'll go have some wine. I haven't yet told her that I'm not drinking this month. I figured that I'd wait to see if sticking to plan with overseas travel is even DOABLE, first. If I'm able to stay compliant up to the point she offers to go for wine, I'll tell her then. If it's case of starving or eating a scone for breakfast, I'll have the wine and then start over on Day 1 when I return home.

Though...really....I think I need to start over tomorrow, as it is. I had a business lunch at an Italian buffet today, and despite asking the chef to special prepare a few items for me (there were 4 of us who needed special meals for one reason or another), I'm pretty sure there was some sort of sugar in the salad dressing. :(

BUMMER. I even picked around the bits of gluten-free pasta in the entree dish they prepared, in order to only eat the chicken and veggies.

    It's a marathon, not a sprint, a marathon, not a sprint. /selftalk

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Woodchuck! I've only been drinking water and the occational La Croix sparkling water (which I don't even really like) when I get a sweet tooth. I know I'm going to struggle with sticking with water, but at the same time, I know it's not worth giving in for one night....that's what got me last week and I had to start all over!

Everything is a choice - food and alcohol. The decision is yours to make on whether to drink or not. Depends on how strict you want to be with the Whole30. In the grand scheme of things, it's *only* 30 days. You can do it.

For me, seltzer water with lime does the trick, and I just lie to people and say there's vodka in there. People get really weird around you if they're drinking and you're not. I never understood why. I'll hang out with people and tell them I'm not going to drink, and I'll have 5 people offering to buy me one, or forcing me to drink one. When I'm broke and want to drink, no one wants to foot the bill. What's the deal?!?

Haha, yup! I know the feeling all too well! Booze will definitely be difficult for me.

Luckily I love club soda. To the OP, put a little bit of lime in there and give it a real try (2-3 glasses). I used to hate it and now it's really my only saving grace haha.

I tried club soda with lime....I really didn't care for the first one but once I got over the fact there wasn't any vodka in it, it wasn't so bad. Looks like I found my survival tool! Thanks guys!
