Are you a diet junkie or a fitness junkie??

The difference:
DIET JUNKIE - works out so you can eat. Works out to get more calorie points.
FITNESS JUNKIE - Eat so you can work out.
I have been a member of MFP for a month and I have noticed that I "use" my fitness points, which means technically I go over my food calorie allowance. Now I plan to pay more attention to my calorie allowance and disregard my fitness points. I will not BAG the calorie points but use it as BONUS points.

What I started doing is entering my exercise late in the day after dinner so I can ignore the "credits" or extra calories I can consume. It is a learning process I guess. :laugh:0 -
Definitely a diet junkie. Without exercise calories I'd be eating the furniture!0

I am definitely a diet junkie then. I work out so I can eat more. And that's not saying I eat a lot, its just what I eat that contains a lot of calories. My toughest time is at lunch since I don't bring my lunch to work and then I'm tempted to go out to eat. And that's usually things like pizza, cheeseburgers, or good sandwiches. But I definitely have a difficult time eating the right food.0

Love that idea!0

Right now, I'm definitely a fitness junkie, love to get a good sweat! Feel 20x much better once I do. And, I am slowly getting more and more addicted to it every day. I do like me some food, but, I have gained much more self control.0

Fitness junkie.
I use MFP like a planner. In the morning I record what I plan to eat through the day. I eat what I planned. Then throughout the day I exercise and watch the deficit grow on my fit bit.0 -

I think the best way for us to succeed is to PLAN our meals to be within our calorie range. When I first started I entered my exercise during the middle of the day and paid attention closely on the remaining calories. Now I do not even look at the NET calories which is food calories less work out.
For me what works is eating 6 times a day. I eat 3 main meals and 2 snacks and it is clock work. I basically eat every 2 to 3 hours and I know when it is time. I do not allow myself to get to the hungry stage. Also I drink about 32 ounces x 3 glasses before lunch and at least 32 ounces x 2 glasses in the afternoon. According to my personal trainer our water intake should be our current weight divided by two.
Example: 200 lbs / 2 = 100 ounces of water.
I am sure you will succeed just need to PLAN!! Also now I enjoy yogurt, fruits and vegetables.,0 -

Good job and excellent work!! I totally do not look at the fitness points. And I plan plan and plan my food days before. Even a trip to fast foods is not as bad as you think:
McDonalds breakfast: oatmeal or best parfait
McDonalds lunch: Salad with grilled chicken and 1 tsp of salad dressing (I have seen people using 2 pouches of salad dressing)
Burger King lunch: turkey burker with NO mayonaise and only 1 bun plus side salad
Wendy's: baked potato with a bit of butter or sour cream and salad
At the restaurants I usually order grilled fish or chicken and garden salad or ceasar salad with dressing on the side.0 -

What you do is enter your exercise at the end of the day and just put all your attention in the food intake.
You can do it!!0 -
Thanks guys for the awesome tips! I'm looking forward to being a fitness junkie I love this group!0

Fitness junkie here
I am also a planning junkie (if there is such a thing).
I am committed to meal planning and workout planning.
I'm doing 6 meals a day - weekends too.
Planning ahead makes everything so much easier, but it takes some discipline the first couple of times.
The first meal prep day was torturous. I did not want to do it.
But now, I can't imagine NOT doing that for myself.0 -
Can I be both? I love going to the gym and working out, I also love eating!0

Occasionally, a diet junkie.0

I think if we really want to achieve 20 lbs in 75 days we have to focus on our food intake calories and enter our work out at night when we are done entering our food for the day. By doing so we will be amazed with how much "extra" calories we have as bonus!!0 -

It is a personal decision if you ask me. I would say keep focus 6 days a week and slack a bit during our "rest" or"cheat" days. Our goal is intense so if we wish to meet our goals we have to be a bit focus.0 -

That's no problem at all. I admit I am that way. In fact today is a perfect example. I walked very brisk for 40 minutes, then I ate at Pei Wei and the calories were 900 (Mongolian chicken with brown rice) to make it up I did circuit training!!0
